Over the past couple of months, I have had the great privilege of testing out the new Lomo Lubitel 166+ to get a feel for this amazing new camera. One of my favorite things to do, ever since I first discovered Lomography, has been to just go out walking with a camera and pockets stuffed with film, to just let the world come through my lens. It’s a way of heightening your senses and really become attuned to the world around you. It has always been, for me, a very intimate approach to taking pictures, and if someone asked me, I’d say that’s what Lomography is all about.
So one weekend, I took the Lubitel+ out with me on a walk through Central Park. I brought along the Lubikin kit and about 20 rolls of film, both 35mm and 120, of all different varieties and flavors.
What happened to me on that day is that I fell in love with the Lubitel+. Never had I experienced such a connection to the photos I was taking. I was actively involved in every photo I took. It wasn’t just snapping, it was using my eyes, my hands, and my heart to capture a moment. It was so intimate and honest, and every photo created a bond between myself, my subject, and my new favorite camera. I didn’t go home until all the film was shot, and I haven’t put the camera down since.
Here are the results of my walk in the park with the Lubitel+.
