Phew! That was some frenzied Snatching folks!

We are excited to announce the first 5 Snatchers who have each won a personal fortune of 50 free Piggies:

1) funwithrobots

2) missound

3) janisthewanis

4) metrimantico

5) lomahese

They went to www.lomography.com/snatch and saw that we were giving away 50 free Piggies for the first 5 chaps who were the quickest to email us.

As you can see, Snatch! is a feature for those who are quick and nimble so keep checking www.lomography.com/snatch and be sure to look carefully at all upcoming online galleries, blog posts and Comments – you never know where a Snatch! offer might be hiding!

Snatch! offers could be an exclusive Lomographic product, a free Piggy giveaway or a bargainous wonder bundle!

You can also expect Snatch! to tip you off on upcoming Lomographic shop launches!

I really don't get it. Where was the Snatch banner? Does one have to tell where one saw it? Did the banner in the post explaning about Snatch count?

Well anyhow - Congrats to the winners!

@larslau: yup, it's actually the banner at the microsite. that area with the 50 piggy banners now will contain future exclusive offers for purchase. The future piggy snatch offers will be scattered around the site and not the microsite. Think of the first 50 piggypoints as the opening salvo for future piggy snatches to come :)

as for the e-mails, you don't need to tell where you saw the offer since we have our special ways of tracking ---- for now.

    hope that helps a bit.

so do we need to keep our eye on the piggy give away graphic (with the word 'grab it') or something which show on the square banner in www.lomography.com/snatch ? i was very confused
    thanks for the advise...

@ larslau - The snatch banner was up on lomography.com - but also there were lots of links in the first blog post to the Snatch microsite. The first 5 Snatchers went on to the Snatch! m/site and saw that there was a crazy piggy giveaway! Snatch! offers and piggy giveaways will appear on the Snatch microsite - so you have to keep watching it - www.lomography.com/snatch. Plus... we will also hide hints to Snatch! offers all over the site - perhaps in galleries, blog posts or the Comments. :)

@weirdo: the piggy giveaway graphic will fly around the site at random intervals, not necessarily on the microsite since that's too much of a giveaway :) we just placed the first 50 piggy giveaway graphic on the microsite as an opening offer.

as for the offers other than the piggy giveaways, just wait for further announcements. :)

how long does this snatch going to take?

  • kazarareta

@weirdo: the project is going to be a stable ongoing site feature just like LHOTD/Oktokino, et. al. but the frequency is very much randomized. If you're referring to as for how long the offers will be put up, they will be 'while supplies last' since we expect everything's going to go out like hotcakes!

@graefin: but the complication of it's the fun of it! :D

rest assured, we're going to improve the feature's functionality once we get it stabilized. please bear with us :)

OK - so I'm gonna come right out and say this: I think this competition concept stinks (and it isn't only because I didn't win.)

It'll make people sit and refresh the Snatch! site all day long - which is the complete opposite of the creativity I would usually associate with Lomo. For me this pure mindlessness (but hey - I just HAVE to check the Snatch! site every 10 minuttes (-; ) - I could come up with lots of competitions where 250 piggies would create tons of interesting content.

Well I'll step down from my soapbox now...

larslau... it's ok if you don't like it... it's not mandatory to participate... you can also just be the calm cool one who sits back and doesn't refresh 30 times a minute, and sneak in and snatch the goodies... some people enjoy some aspects of the site, and some people enjoy others... it's not intended to cause you any harm... it's just fun! come on, it's called SNATCH! ;)

(also, knowing some of the stuff that's coming down the pike (don't bother asking, cause i ain't tellin'), it's going to be so exciting for some lucky people! i wish i could play! brace yourselves, people!)

@ouroborosx: It is not that I am angry with Lomography or anything - I just wanted to tell that I didn't like this concept and why - mainly because I think it's the first time there is something on Lomography I don't like.

Well... ca-ro's comment on the news post makes me hope this isn't as bad as I first thought (:

    i agree with larslau,
with the LHOTD/Oktokino and all the other challanges, like the lomo missions, it motivates people to make photographs and create fantastic things, to get out and experience the world with a drive to win piggies. Now its just about sitting behind your computer screen, waiting, instead of going out there and making some lomo's! I think this is rediculous. There is no more pride in winning piggies when it comes to these kind of give away's.
Is it to increase the hits of the site or online sales?
