Lomography kicks back with Iker Casillas, captain of the Spanish national soccer team

So what the does Lomography have in common with Iker Casillas, Captain of Euro Championship winning team, Spain? Both Casiillas and Lomography Spain are active supporters of the children’s development organisation Plan International.
Straight off the back of Spain’s Euro 2008 victory, Casillas left his team-mates to play a game with some younger champs from a remote Peruvian community in Patabamba, Cuzco. Casillas took his new squad of young players to kick a ball around Machu Picchu, the sacred Lost City of the Incas, which sits 2360 metres above sea level.
Pasquale Caprile, Lomography Spain Ambassador and professional advertising photographer, accompanied the Spanish captain to document the trip with lots of photographs. See his gallery below.
Plan International has been working in the Andean community for 10 years now. In this time, they have built an elementary school, a medical centre, a handicraft shop and a high school is currently being constructed.
Lomography Spain has a long-standing relationship with Plan Espana, and among other schemes, has collaborated for a children’s project in the Dominican Republic. Armed with a Lomolito disposable camera, the children shot their interpretations of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The aim of the trip to Machu Picchu was to highlight internationally the work being done by Plan in Peru. Iker Casillas and Pasquale Caprille were accompanied by Spanish soccer legend, Emilio Butragueño, Plan Peru Acting Director, Horacio Torres and Plan Espana Director, Concha Lopez. The small team meant that the whole experience could remain intimate and special for everyone, most importantly the children.
