JPG Magazine is one of our very favorite publications. Each month, they present a slamming collection of images, stories, and photo journalism – all sourced from the hyper-creative members of their online community. We share a lot of synergy with them, as many JPG contributors are diehard Lomographers and many of their features focus on Lomographic and analog cameras. Working with them on a collaborative photo challenge was a natural first step in what will surely be a long and fruitful relationship. Here are the details:
The Long Exposure Photo Challenge
Prop your camera up, open the shutter, and play! This photo challenge is all about fun and experimentation, so show us your most creative long exposure shot, the ones where the lights blur and the unexpected is exposed. Whether it’s a long exposure shot of a moving crowd, the spinning stars at night, or your best painting with light photo , we want to see it!

The long exposure photo challenge is sponsored and guest-judged by Lomography and the top three winners will receive one of the new special edition Colorsplash Chakra cameras, designed by Staple Design, along with a copy of the “Colorsplash Chakras” book, signed by Staple and Lomography. This photo challenge will be open for one week and will close July 2nd. Some starter tips— use a tripod to avoid camera shake, and try some test shots at 10, 20, or 30 seconds. But there’s no right way, so show us how you shoot!
The contest starts NOW!! Deadline for submissions: July 2nd.
