Guess The Film! Winner Announcement

Wow that was a lot of Ektar guesses in the last post! We are sorry to say that this was not the film that we were looking for and hence can not give out any piggies today :(

Wow that was a lot of Ektar guesses in the last post! We are sorry to say that this was not the film that we were looking for and hence can not give out any piggies today :(

What we were looking for was the Kodak Ektachrome SW film . Just a small hint before you cast your guess next time around – all photos used in the film quiz are taken either from the filmshop galleries or from one of the film class reviews.

Like before – we are also opening a new film quiz with this post – picture is at the top. All you have to do is tell us which film it is. As for piggies, we though we could try something new. The winners will share a pot of 20 piggies amongst each other. Hence if 10 of you guess the correct film you each get 2. If only 1 of you gets it right then thats alot of piggies coming your way! Of course, we have to be fair so if more than 20 of you guess the correct film you will each get to keep a whole piggy point, no piggy pennies in our economy.

All clear? Well then lets see how you do this time :)

    Solar Eclipses and Beyond

The skies were busy with magic today — or maybe it was just the solar eclipse that caused all that ruckus? Decked out in space-age goggles and other various sun viewing paraphernalia, groups of people gathered as the moon moved between the sun and the earth this morning across Europe. Only a few lucky folks witnessed the total eclipse, and here at Vienna HQ, the greatest moment of the partial eclipse happened at 10:45 A.M. and lasted only a few minutes. We stopped everything we were doing to join the sky watchers crew and share in this astonishing moment. Check out these brilliant solar-inspired shots to celebrate the occasion!

Lantern Slides From the 'Psychic Photography From a New Angle' Series

Mysterious apparitions and other inexplicable phenomena on film, or generally speaking, for that matter, are as highly debated topics today as they were many decades ago. In 1934, a certain Mr. C.P. MacCarthy of 15 Wilkinson Street, Sheffield held a lecture at 76 Clarkehouse Road located in the same city to "demonstrate under test conditions Fake Psychic Photography" before an invited committee. MacCarthy's demonstration was accompanied by a series of photographs titled "Psychic Photography From a New Angle."

I am a Mad Analogue Scientist: New Experiments with 35mm Films and Chemicals

Unfortunately, it happens sometimes that your resulting pictures are not what you expected - the image doesn't look that good, the colors are bland, and the subject is banal. Indeed, it couldn't be picture of the year! Herein I propose a second chance for your pictures by modifying your 35mm negatives. Just pick up some ideas from here, experiment, and scan your negatives with the Lomography Smartphone Scanner. Anything is possible: burning, scratching, putting on hydrochloric acid, balsamic vinegar, nail polish, bleach, or raspberry juice... use your imagination and write down your new film soup recipe! You can find a sample of the effects in this article.

LomoAmigos: The Ting Tings Go Analogue!

The Ting Tings are a musical duo from Manchester who have more pop hits than you can shake a stick at. They are most famous for their 2008 hit "That's Not My Name" which got even the stiffest of people shaking in their seats. The Ting Tings are back with a brand new album called Super Critical. They are big film fanatics (check out their website for proof) so we gave them a Sprocket Rocket Camera and a bunch of film to document their life in sunny IBIZA.
