LomoPeople Malaysia: Ayuni

2

Without her, I cannot call myself a lomographer. She supports me in very analogue or lomographic endeavor I get myself into.

In my journey in the analogue world, there is this one person who has always been with me.

I began to fall in love in the beautiful world of Lomography in 2010. Many people started shooting using with digital cameras in this era, but not me. I started with a ‘cult camera,’ as said by Kai Wong in DigitalRev TV, the Holga.

One person who is always with me when exploring this world is my special one, Ayuni. She has no interest at all in photography or lomography, but she understands me all the time and gives full support to all my endeavors.

Without her, I would have not been able to be where I am today. My first outing, with my first camera, loaded with my first roll of film, was with her. I can still remember back in 2010; I traveled from Tg Malim to Kuala Lumpur to take some pictures. I did not know anyone who shared the same hobby as mine, nor did I know of any analogue community.

She gave me a lot of cameras and films as gifts. The first one was a LOMO Smena 8m, for my birthday in 2010. It became my 1st choice camera for quite long time; and I learned a lot about the fundamentals of photography using it. It was the first of many more cameras to come. She always remembers to buy me a camera or film whenever she travels with her friends or her family. The newest are 2 disposable cameras from a supermarket in Perth, Australia, out of which, I already used one. She gave me different types of analogue cameras including point and shoot, single lens reflex, twin lens reflex, half-frame and also, a rangefinder camera.

Every time I join any outing or gathering with analogue and lomography camera enthusiasts, she always comes with me, for as long as she is available. Although it is quite boring and tiring for those who are not interested in this stuff, she is always there to support me. She is a very important person for me, right from that very day that I started shooting with analogue cameras. The same can be said until now, or perhaps, forever.
