In the shape of the lotus, the temple represents purity, tenderness and calmness. Its significance is deeply rooted in the minds and hearts of the Asian culture for centuries.

In brief, the lotus represents the Manifestation of God. This is what I learned and found while reading.

In the epic poem Mahabharata, the Creator Brahma is described as having sprung from the lotus that grew out of Lord Vishnu’s navel when that deity lay absorbed in meditation. There is a deep and universal reverence for the lotus, which is regarded as a sacred flower associated with worship throughout many centuries.

In Buddhist folklore the Boddhisatva Avalokiteswara is represented as born from a lotus, and is usually depicted as standing or sitting on a lotus pedestal and holding a lotus bloom in his hand. Lord Buddha says you have to be like a lotus which, although living in dirty water, still remains beautiful and undefiled by its surroundings.

No wonder somewhere somehow a lotus bud like temple is been built and its in the heart of NEW DELHI. Any people from all races, religious backgrounds and culture are very welcome to worship discreetly, meaning sermons are prohibited and only scriptural readings may be read. The Lotus Temple is the 8th Bahá’í House of Worship built around the world. Bahá’í House are not link to any of Buddhism or Hinduism in India. It’s a very long story to put it in words, in short please visit the web site I provided in the end. Anyway it’s very eye catching even on the map, so go visit it, say your prayers, feel good and have a good day.

    Thanks for the tips.
I am going to Delhi in two weeks. I will go to this place thanks to this nice article. I really like the ide that people with different religious backgrounds and culture can come to the same place to pray. I think its the way to do it in the future. Its may make people more tolerant towards each other.

Storytelling with Petzvals: Alex Timmermans and the Art of Collodion

Not long after Alex Timmermans purchased his first digital camera at the turn of the century, he quickly realized the trappings of digital photography couldn't fulfill his personal photographic desires. He then began searching for a more challenging process — one that wasn't so predictable. His journey eventually landed him back at the roots of analogue photography, specifically employing the wet plate collodion process using original Petzval lenses. This antique photographic process found in him a renewed inspiration and has since become his passion, which is evident in both his words and his images.

Stop bath is a type of chemical used in the darkroom for processing black and white film, aptly named as such because it halts the development of the images. In this case, stop bath is also part of the title that Korean analogue street photographer Soomin Yim has given her body of work, "Stop Bath the City," to represent the forgotten faces of people in the city amid rapid modernization, captured and immortalized on black and white film.
