Stencil in the back of Diana F+

8

Inspired by the Tori Amos Rome competition I wondered how could I photograph Rome in Wellington New Zealand.

I came up with a stencil design based on Roman Architecture to cast a shilouette on my negative and I got the idea for that from this brilliant tipster

Choppity chop, I sketched then cut out a stencil shape to fit on the back of my Diana's 16 frame mask.

Can you spot my misstake?

By the way I’m using 35mm stock in the back of Diana with my own sponge and masking tape version of this tipster that uses rubber bands rather than tape (don’t forget to off center your new spool as it recesses in to the top of the camera);

OOPS!

So on my second try I flipped the stencil around and got the result I was aiming for.

    I'd the same with a heart on my holga but didn't think about the lack of mirrors=upside down. Good results eh

    I did the same thing multiple times - that's what you get when you're too lazy to get your rolls processed for months! So cool this temple stencil, by the way!

    I'm impressed with your patience for cutting that stencil. I encountered similar "upside-down" issues with my first stencils- haha. Lesson learned :) Your photos turned out cool.

    Fresh from the Lab: One Roll of Film and the Lubitel 166U

    Adi, Ekeu, and I did a lomowalk around downtown Bandung last Saturday, the beginning of November. We planned to use our Lubitel cameras with only one roll of film each. We were inspired by the One Roll of Film Project by four Tokyo-based photographers with their Hasselblad cameras. This is about the one roll of film I shot with the Lubitel 166U, which made me love shooting in medium format even more.
