Words Of Revolution!

14

In this digital era, people have started to forget all things analogue. People would rather listen to iPods than walk with their old cassette walkmans. The catastrophe is also infecting the photography field. Almost everyone had gone digital, and simply forgot the golden age of film photography.

Although the word “analogue” has spread around the world through the internet, it’s not enough to support this campaign. Thus, the underground association called “ACT – 21” was born.

ACT – 21—Analogue Camera Terrorist. The “terrorists”, the front line of analogue photography psychological warfare, do not attack people with bombs or nuclear weapons. They are armed with analogue cameras and loads of “bullets,” including black and white, infra-red, slides, and color negative films.

The number 21 represents all 21 members in this group, each of them coming from different backgrounds, from all over Malaysia, with the one common objective: to spread the word of analogue photography and celebrate once again the golden era of analogue cameras and films.

All the ideas were inspired by Shepard Fairey, Banksy, Space Invaders, and artworks of pixel art from 80’s and 90s. The application of lomowall has also been used in their ‘public exhibition’. Some say they actually just destroy and mess with the walls, cursing them with one word: VANDALISM. However, they do not know what exactly is the message they want to convey. They believe by doing things this way, people can know more about the art of film photography.

Last but not least, ACT – 21 is everywhere, in every radical analogue user. Beware of the rise of the analogue. This is a REVOLUTION!
