Fuji Pro 400H: Flexible, If Subtle Color Negative Film

2

If you want a versatile medium speed colour negative film, with subtle tones and accurate colour rendition, then Fuji Pro 400H is great.

When I first started using my Diana F+ I looked at the Lomography store and saw that they recommended Fuji Pro 400H 120 as the best film to use with this camera. At 400 ISO, this film has enough speed to work in very variable lighting conditions and also works well with the Diana F+’s aperture weather icons.

This film works well even in dull conditions

The color palette of this film is very true to life, but for my taste it lacks a bit of contrast and saturation. It is still a really nice film to use and I normally have a roll of it in my bag as a reliable back up. Where it really stands out is as a portrait film as it renders skin tones very accurately and the lack of strong contrast leads to softer looking images.

Works well as for portraits

Whilst you are never going to mistake it for xpro film, sometimes it can produce some really full-on vivid color tones that really surprise you.

You can get surprising bursts of color

It is also a really nice film to use for multiple exposures as it’s wide exposure latitude means that it doesn’t get over exposed too easily and is quite forgiving if you mess up your setting.

Multiple exposures work well with this film

This is definitely a really nice film, to help you get to grips with the basics of photography, enjoy it and Lomo on!

The Fuji Pro 400H 120 is one of the finest 120 colour films out there. You get the extra speed of 400 ISO while maintaining excellent fine-grain and banging colours of a slower film. See the whole range of colour negatives in our Shop.

The Diana F+ is a new twist on the ‘60s classic cult camera. Famous for its dreamy and soft-focused images, the Diana F+ is now packed with extra features such as panorama and pinhole capabilities. Available in our Online Shop.
