DIY Redscale, Featuring Kodak Colorplus

4

Have you ever wonder what results would you get if you DIY your own redscale films? I took what's on my table, an empty canister and an expired 2008 Kodak Colorplus pack. I DIY it into a redscale film and here are the results! :)

Kodak Colorplus is a budget affordable color negative film sold everywhere. Being a curious guy as I’ve never done redscale before, I went ahead to DIY it and here are some samples of the results I want to share!

Its very reddish throughout the roll. But I’m seeing a bit of green in the plant photos.

I’m very happy with the results, its my first time though. Speechless now. :P

A normal C-41 process will do the job and don’t forget to flip the images because when you get back your images would be mirrored. :)

You can expose at higher film ISO or purposely overexpose by 1 or 2 stops if you want more color. The photos will still have that yellow-orange-red tint depending on what film you use. :D

    Turning the Turquoise Over

The LomoChrome Turquoise film boasts bold and unpredictable colors, so I thought "redscaling" it would yield an even more dramatic result. Much to my surprise, the dominant color palette of my photographs revealed LomoChrome Turquoise's soft and delicate side.

A Salute to the Masters: Football (A Tribute to Lothar Rübelt)

This is a tribute to a great Austrian sports photographer, Lothar Rübelt. In an era with no high speed films available, he was able to immortalize wonderful moments in sports - from diving to gymnastics and football. In creating this tribute, I took a series of photos of an amateur football match using expired black and white film developed using an uncommon chemical. Take a look after the jump!

Pushing Boundaries: Multiple Exposing Film Soup

As you may have read in my previous article, I truly fell in love with Lomography when I combined my Fisheye camera with an old Canon AE-1 for magical photographic results. Last summer, I took so many pictures of flowers that it started to become almost boring for me. My waning interest and the coming winter meant that I had to figure out something else to do with my 35mm film.

Lantern Slides From the 'Psychic Photography From a New Angle' Series

Mysterious apparitions and other inexplicable phenomena on film, or generally speaking, for that matter, are as highly debated topics today as they were many decades ago. In 1934, a certain Mr. C.P. MacCarthy of 15 Wilkinson Street, Sheffield held a lecture at 76 Clarkehouse Road located in the same city to "demonstrate under test conditions Fake Psychic Photography" before an invited committee. MacCarthy's demonstration was accompanied by a series of photographs titled "Psychic Photography From a New Angle."
