Music at 1600 ISO

7

At one of the Lomowalks, a friend suggested that I should use the LC-Wide for music photography. Now I know that LC-W is great but then I wanted to push it to the extreme limit and find out what happens.

Khushali & Clarence outside Bluefrog

A friend of mine is close pals with the band Them Clones and she wanted to go see them play & take some pictures of them. So off we went at 8pm in the night to Bluefrog at Phoenix Mills, Bombay.

Green Room at Bluefrog

Bluefrog is one of the few places which is dedicated to great music. Almost all through the month they have live performances, great DJ’s and amazing music.

Them Clones on stage

So we reached there, before the band took the stage. Lucky for me I got to meet them all in the green room, waiting before the show. When you say you’re a photographer, most people expect to see you with a huge big dslr or a super expensive camera. And they were kind of surprised that I was using a film camera that too so tiny.

On Stage

I am used to using the LC-A+ but this was probably my first proper test with the LC-Wide. The biggest difference I see is the aperture for the lens. When shooting with my other film cameras, I usually would shoot only with very big apertures like f1.4 or f2.8. But the LC-Wide max aperture is only f4.5 which is a little bit of challenge.

But then I geared up and looked for light. The camera performs quite well even with such low light and the best part is that there is not really much to worry about focus like the LC-A+. There are only 2 settings so it was really easy.

I like the whole idea of LC-Wide, its best part is that its really ungaurding. People don’t really realize what they’re looking into so they don’t really pay attention or take you lightly. Which is great because I didn’t want the band members to pose or feel intimidated by the camera.

Deepak, Me and Khushali

I’ve sent the pictures to my friend and I am wondering what she would say about them. =)

I'm sure the band will be exstatic with the photos just like your friend. They turned out great and convey a lot of atmosphere. Amazing work through experimentation and courage.

These are excellent photos -- near pro-quality IMO. Not only great exposures but fantastic compositions, etc. Great job.

At the Funfair with my Horizon Perfekt

Every year my city Como hosts, for the Easter period, a great fun fair. This is a great occasion to test a camera, to make experiments with films, to have fun and to photograph people while also having fun! This year, I used my gem, the wonderful Horizon Perfekt (that I bought from the Lomography Online Shop) loaded with a timeless film, a Kodak Tri-X 400 developed, as usually for b/w, by myself. On-Time Rumble: Show Us Your Perfect Timing

There is nothing than a photo shot at the perfect moment. Henri Cartier Bresson's principle on "The Decisive Moment" is a principle that we should still follow to this day. A perfectly-timed photo creates impact, whether it's one of a friend jumping into the pool or a couple emerging from the ceremony on their wedding day. For this rumble, we want to see that breathtaking moment, shot at the perfect time.

Well, that’s what happened; a year later, I finally bought my very own Petzval lens.

The Magic Yet To Come: Part 1

Here’s a random and rather mysterious tale for you folks. Just the other day, I was at a local bar with a few friends. It was much like any other evening; we were sipping a couple of cocktails, recounting our adventures, falling over ourselves with laughter and half-drunkenly meditating on the meaning of life (a scientist once told me it’s 42 by the way). But then something truly strange happened. Read on to hear my story and please make a comment with your guess at the end!

If you want to know the heart of a person, peek inside his/her wardrobe! And no, nobody famous said that; I only just made it up. But really, don't you think it's true? After all, the way we dress screams our personality; at least for most of us. And that is why, as soon as I land on a new city, one of the things I absolutely must do is find the local boutiques. Sure, I love the fancy chain boutiques as much as the next person, but there's just something else about a local clothing store. It's unique!
