This is a story of a film experiment I did with chemistry. It involves iron solution for Plant Protection. Go get your goggles and protect your eyes!
In the spring my neighbor sprayed fruit trees in his yard to eliminate iron deficiency. He used Sequestrene Fe 138 SG iron solution from Syngenta AG Basel .When I saw the dark red wine color of the liquid, I immediately thought of the tipster and asked a little quantity for an experiment.
I have some experience with a Russian mix and decided to take 1 spoonful of this solution to the 3 dl of hot water ( 60 Celsius ) and add a pinch of salt and a few drops of lemon. I cooked film in this liquid for three minutes and took care that the temperature does not exceed 60 degrees Celsius. Wash it in a cold water and dry it in a dark place afterwards. This soup can use more time!
WARNING!!!! This soup can be dangerous to the health. Take care of use open the window. Works in the glove and don’t put in mouth and don’t drink it.

Probably each one of you has been annoyed with failed film. This is particularly annoying when you get the developed film back from the lab, but you get blanks because the film was not exposed. It's either the film transport didn't work, or you have not taken the lens cap off, etc. Read on and I'll show you an alternative to just throwing away the film: Simply use it as a color filter for your camera, with the La Sardina for example.
I've always been looking for a really simple solution to hold my color gels of my Diana Mini's flash WITH the camera and make them easy to grab when I want to use them. I also wanted something to keep them from getting damaged. Let me show you how I found a simple way to make it.
Shake well and apply to fabric. Blot out excess using a paper towel. Create your design using Inkofilm or anything that casts a shadow. Expose to sunlight or bright UV light for 10-20 minutes or until color reaches full saturation. Machine wash using Inkowash to remove unexposed dye. Double your exposure time in overcast weather. Enjoy the "wow" result!

Unfortunately, it happens sometimes that your resulting pictures are not what you expected - the image doesn't look that good, the colors are bland, and the subject is banal. Indeed, it couldn't be picture of the year! Herein I propose a second chance for your pictures by modifying your 35mm negatives. Just pick up some ideas from here, experiment, and scan your negatives with the Lomography Smartphone Scanner. Anything is possible: burning, scratching, putting on hydrochloric acid, balsamic vinegar, nail polish, bleach, or raspberry juice... use your imagination and write down your new film soup recipe!
