A low budget negative film with very good quality.
Fuji Superia Xtra (35mm, 200 ISO) is a good color negative film. It’s cheap but it doesn’t compromise quality.
It is a great film to use outdoors with bright sun, its vivid colors and fine grain makes it a very good choice for the spring and summer but I also like to use it in the Autumn, to shoot nature and its fantastic colors when the ground is full of yellow, orange and red leafs and the sun shines, this film captures those colors perfectly and with a very good sharpness so you don’t miss a single detail.
I also like to use this films to test the cameras I buy, its a good film to test the capabilities of the lens and camera. When I bought my Yashica Electro, I immediately loaded it with this film (even without the camera battery) and the results left me amazed!!! The combination between the two cameras is perfect in bright sun light, it captured every color and every detail perfectly.
I prefer the 400 ISO version but I have to admit that the 200 ISO is far better in very good light conditions. Actually, I prefer to use this film instead of using most of 100 color negative films, you can’t find any difference in the grain, you can get better camera settings (more speed) and I believe that it is more sharp than most 100 color negative films I know.
It is very easy to find, you can find it on LSI shop, supermarkets, labs and on-line shops. I usually buy them in a shop near the place I live and for a very nice price, I hope Fuji never discontinues the production of the 200 and 400 ISO versions of this film, it would be a terrible loss for Lomographers and analogue photographers all around the world. I sincerely hope that Fuji continues to develop and produce Instant photos, negatives, and slide films, it is one of my favorite film brands and I hope it continues to help and inspire analogue photographers to do what we like to do the most—to keep shooting film and having fun while doing it.
