One of my favorite places to get a cup of coffee is Schiller's Liquor Bar on the Lower East Side.
Because of the insane crowds, I usually steer clear of the place on weekends but on weekdays, it’s generally pretty open. The free WiFi and window-doors that completely open up onto the street when it’s warm out, make it an ideal place to have a cup of coffee (and donuts) while working out of the office. It’s pretty photogenic to boot.
Nearly the whole restaurant (exterior and bathrooms included) is covered in white subway tile. All of the features are beautiful and well thought out, from the trough sink in the bathroom, the light fixtures inside and out, the tables, chairs, and bar to the typography throughout.
They have plenty of other food beyond the coffee and donuts, but I usually just stick with the classics. Pretty solid on their own, but even better in the environment.
