At the southern tip of India your Lomo camera will freak out by capturing some of the greatest nature and beach attractions: a lighthouse surrounded by uncountable coconut trees, a tropical beach, hundreds of craws, lots of people, boats, fishermen at work, and last but not least, amazing sunsets.
The green area in South India is Kerala which is famous for its fantastic nature spots, especially the backwater lagoons, lakes and beaches. This region is admittedly more popular for calmer nature lovers than for young people and parties but it’s perfect for a relaxing time together with your camera for doing some great experimental photography.
Kovalam has one of the nicest beaches on the South West coast (13km away from Trivandrum) and is known as the paradise of the South. The beach is divided into three parts and the most interesting is the lighthouse beach. Especially as the promontory is marked by big rocks and that attraction invites Indian families and friends to admire the glorious sunset. This is definitely the moment where you should grab your Lomo and shoot like hell until the sun goes down.
You’ll get the best results when you shoot against the sun to get great silhouettes of people, birds, rocks, leaves and trees. Try to use slide films for colorful pictures and you should even do some experiments with doubles, which can produce really cool effects.
