Today, the world celebrates Midsummer's Eve, a feast dedicated to the sun, especially important in Northern Europe. To celebrate, let us take a look at some awe-inspiring photos of bonfires and the dazzling sun in the Lomographic world!
Midsummer’s Eve is one of the important summer holidays in the world, especially in the Northern Hemisphere. Midsummer’s Day is traditionally celebrated in Europe on June 24, after the summer solstice or the longest day. But festivities begin on the eve of Midsummer’s Day, marked by bonfires, dancing, and some traditional customs and rituals.
The celebration has its roots in ancient, pre-Christian times, and is associated with magic, witchcraft, fairies, and fertility (especially in Sweden). People lit bonfires to try and strengthen the sun, as it appeared to get dimmer and weaker after the longest day. They also served as protection against evil spirits, which were thought to roam freely once the sun begins to turn southwards once more.
Now, it’s time for us to have our analog celebration of Midsummer’s Eve through photos of blazing bonfires and the majestic sun in the Lomographic world!
The skies were busy with magic today — or maybe it was just the solar eclipse that caused all that ruckus? Decked out in space-age goggles and other various sun viewing paraphernalia, groups of people gathered as the moon moved between the sun and the earth this morning across Europe. Only a few lucky folks witnessed the total eclipse, and here at Vienna HQ, the greatest moment of the partial eclipse happened at 10:45 A.M. and lasted only a few minutes. We stopped everything we were doing to join the sky watchers crew and share in this astonishing moment. Check out these brilliant solar-inspired shots to celebrate the occasion!
We've often heard how going beyond our comfort zones can be so rewarding, yet not many of us aren't ready yet to do it. But photographer and athlete Cory Richards is one of those brave few who has constantly gone out of theirs not only to take awe-inspiring photographs, but to communicate the human experience itself to the rest of the world.

Every year, just a few weeks before summer, I dedicate a series of photos to the joy of living outdoors in this good season. One of the most common pleasures is taking one's socks and shoes off to feel the first warm rays of sun on our pale feet, which were prisoners inside shoes throughout the long winter season. So, it's time to take off your socks and shoes and relax barefoot! Where? Of course, on the walls surrounding the beautiful lake! Take a look!

Inspiration comes to us in different ways, in various forms, sometimes in unexpected ways. I've always been interested in the workspaces, processes, and things that inspire artists around the world, so I really enjoyed watching the short documentary detailing the creative world of a Venetian artist called Zaira.
