Tossa de Mar

3

I like Spain. The people range from muy freaky to muy gentil and it is always a joy talking to them. Additionally they have rather my height than the ones from the Teutonian tribe, which makes it much easier to integrate for me, too. And the country has some exceptional beautiful spots offside the normal touristic routes - off the record. Quite a while ago I have been to Tossa de Mar, which lays a one and a half hour cardrive away from Barcelona.

And the country has some exceptional beautiful spots offside the normal touristic routes – off the record. Quite a while ago I have been to Tossa de Mar, which lays a one and a half hour cardrive away from Barcelona.

I was there in January and I couldn´t believe that sun has already such energy to shine at the fullest until the evening. It is not extraordinary hot, but anyway, it´s the light that makes the magic of happiness. And not only, of course your camera appreciates this little extra of light, too. I would recommend going there in the off-season, hence the hotels, menus and everything connected is quite a bit cheaper. Also you will have a lot of space on the beach and in the tapas-bars for yourself – I mean, there is always the option to take a boat to mallorca or Ibiza, if you are keen on company – there you are definitely not alone – at no time.

In Tossa you have a little castello and quite a few ancient streets. Nonetheless, the prime Highlights are certainly the silence of the sea and of course the beach, which gave the city the name. There are three beaches, which are attached straight to the road, but that doesn´t disturb you, because traffic is minor in this area. And for me everything was centered around the rescue-ring at the beach, almost like the core of this place.

:) it is actually the teeny-weeny mini-camera called Demekin. you shoot on 110 pocket-film, but in the print it has the same square format as any medium format.

    Experiencing the Rainforest Adventure Experience

When I was a kid, one of my greatest joys was to go to the park. I especially loved playgrounds. It didn't matter how may other children there were, as long as I could have my turn to go on the slide and and sit on the swing. These days, enjoying one's childhood has become so different. Technology has stolen the interest of children in more physically demanding yet fun activities.

Fresh From the Lab: Take Off Your Socks and Shoes - It's Summertime!

Every year, just a few weeks before summer, I dedicate a series of photos to the joy of living outdoors in this good season. One of the most common pleasures is taking one's socks and shoes off to feel the first warm rays of sun on our pale feet, which were prisoners inside shoes throughout the long winter season. So, it's time to take off your socks and shoes and relax barefoot! Where? Of course, on the walls surrounding the beautiful lake! Take a look!

This is the story of my first adventure on the beach this year. In the middle of June, I took my first sunbath along the seaside on a small public beach in Varazze - a rather small and unkempt place which I will never return to in the future. Read more to find out why!

    Finally, My Own Petzval Lens

In April of this year I had the chance to test the Petzval Lens and to write a review on it for the German photography forum Kwerfeldein. The lens excited me from the very beginning, at the time it was introduced on Kickstarter. I was afraid that once I had tested the lens, I would want to have one of my own! Well, that’s what happened; a year later, I finally bought my very own Petzval lens.

Useful Guidelines on Shooting with Ultra Wide Lenses

Wide-angle lens are further divided into sub-classifications: Wide, ultra-wide and ultra-ultra-wide. Based on current standards, wide lenses for 35mm cameras are those with focal lengths ranging from 24 to 35mm. Lenses are considered ultra-wide if they have focal lengths from 17 to 21 mm, and ultra-ultra-wide if from 12 to 16mm. The New Russar+ is a 20mm lens; hence it falls under the ultra-wide classification. If you have an ultra-wide lens or if you intend to get the Russar+, you might as well make the most out of your precious investment. Read on for a few guidelines on shooting with ultra-wide lenses.

Chuck Close shoots larger-than-life instant portraits of Hollywood's finest personalities

American photorealist and photographer Chuck Close suffers from Prosopagnosia, a disorder that impairs one's ability to recognize faces. Ironically, Close became famous for his huge portraits, which he painted with the help of gridded photographs. In 1988, a seizure resulting from spinal artery collapse rendered him paralyzed from the neck down, but did not stop him from creating masterpieces that patrons enjoy.

Chasing The Sun: Oasis 1993 - 1997 Exhibition

Manchester based band Oasis rose to fame in late 1994 with their debut album "Definitely Maybe" which went straight to number one in the UK charts. They went on to have eight UK number one singles, eight number one albums and whole host of awards, dramas, fights, fall outs and new members in between. Chasing The Sun: Oasis 1993 - 1997 was the first Oasis exhibition of rare and iconic photographs, artifacts and memorabilia from the early years of the band. Some of these photos were take by Tom Sheehan who had his own exhibition at our Lomography Store East.
