Last night our merry London Lomographers community descended upon The – new, massive, shiny and still smelling of fresh paint – Photographers’ Gallery up West, just off London’s ridiculous Oxford Street.
Amid the thousands of frantic shoppers charging up and down the retail zone an utter oasis of calm and sanctuary existed in this fabulous new gallery space. A Zen – like atmosphere prevailed.
In the red corner, in front of a load of scary prints of Morris Dancers was Helen – our Newcastle Lomography Ambassador- running rolling, mini, learn about session for the new Lubitel 166+. Many came, many saw, many were amazed by this chick’s ability to make any Lomography camera her own!
Unruffled and laid back as ever was our Lomography London Ambassador Linda in the blue corner welcoming, handing our treasure hunt sheets, shooting challenges and taking charge of the sack for Secret Santa’s goodies.
Fifty eight of you gorgeous Londoners visited us this blissful night and twenty two took part in the treasure hunt! The winner – Thomas Hussey – received a luscious new leather LomoFolio bag with some canny treats inside! Linda is probably still on the ground floor of the gallery arguing the toss over the amount of hands jiving in a collection of pictures taken in Soho in 1953 – bad luck James and Marc – the judges decision is final!
The shooting challenge needs to be uploaded by the 23rd of December to qualify and the London Embassy will choose a winner on Christmas Eve – get ready for that lucky message in your in-box!!! Remember to upload to the London Embassy LomoHome – username london-embassy / password – cottage. Good luck!
Have a great Christmas everyone and look out for a meeting due in February when we’ll all be feeling like venturing out again and the spirit of love will be in the air!
Peace, The Lomography Embassy London
