Extending the Photo Dimension When Double Exposing

Shoot from the hip, but mind the composition guidelines. Sometimes you really know to appreciate a pic that has a foreground and a background, a pic that emphasizes the spicy dominant object from the numerous secondary details, a pic that carries a story of its own etc.

Shoot from the hip, but mind the composition guidelines. Sometimes you really know to appreciate a pic that has a foreground and a background, a pic that emphasizes the spicy dominant object from the numerous secondary details, a pic that carries a story of its own etc.

Double exposure is a powerful tool to draw the composition of your own from several ready-made elements you can find around. An interesting effect (kinda adding another dimension) can be reached while carefully choosing the points for the double exposure shots:

1. “Going thru” – shoot perspective “A” from the side and perspective “B” from the front

2. “Intersecting planes” – stand along the plane, shoot perspective “A” to one side, turn 180 degrees and shoot perspective “B” to the other side.

3. “Yet another intersecting planes” – same as before, but standing on the street

4. Find your combinations: shoot perspective “A” toward the sky and perspective “B” from the front

5. Forget about the rules and start experimenting with your views, creating your own illusions!
