Horizon Perfekt: Why I Love it So!

12

I just wanna say "I love you!" to my beloved Horizon Perfekt!

If you have never had your own Horizon Perfekt before or have the chance to get along with it, you’ll never know how lovely it could be…just like your boyfriend/girlfriend! Here comes my sharing about my dating with Horizon in the past 6 months; after reading it, you may understand why I love it so!

I fell in love with Horizon at the first sight. When I saw the “panorama taken by the experienced Lomographer, ericeast, I know that Horizon is my dream camera! Finally, I bought it from the Lomography Online Shop 6 months ago and started living with my beloved Horizon; since then, we become so inseparable that just seems like a person and his shadow.

Sense and sensibility.
Objectively, Horizon has lots of strong points that make it a super lovely camera! In addition, it may have some amazing hidden functions that you don’t know yet!

(1) Suitable for use round-the-clock
No matter it’s daytime or at night, beautiful pictures could easily be obtained by using the appropriate combination of aperture and shutter speed! Since Horizon doesn’t has its own build-in light meter, and I have never used a light meter before; at last, I decided to make myself the “human light meter”. In my experience, f/8, 1/125s should be enough while shooting under the sun; f/16, 1/2s for shooting under well illuminated indoor conditions; f/2, 1/2s for shooting under dimly illuminated indoor conditions and at night, and light tracks could be captured using this setting!

(2) Truly portable and handy
No worry of loosing the lens cover or forgetting to take it off before shooting, as the lens are beautifully protected by the slide-door like “lens cover”! Don’t worry, it won’t do any harm to the lens even if you put your Horizon directly into you bag!

(3) Strongly rooted and easy to hold
Due to its design and weight, when you hold Horizon in your hands, you could truly feel how it’s different from the other plastic Lomographic cameras! When you’re shooting with slow shutter speed, its own weight helps to keep it steady, so that the motion of pressing the shutter won’t lead to shaky hands and spoil the shots of nice night scenery!

(4) Widen your Horizon
As its name suggests, Horizon instantly widens your horizons !

No need to mention, it’s the first choice for shooting seas of flowers!

(5) Perfect for group photo
Wanna take a group photo with friends at gatherings, at wedding parties or during family gatherings with dozens of family members? Don’t need to squeeze into the photo and stand “chest-to-back” like beauties in the beauty pageant anymore, the super wide angle Horizon lets you pose freely without the worry of being kicked out of the shot!

(6) Broaden your social network
When you press the shutter button, starting from the moment that the lens of Horizon begin to spin, you’ll become the focus of the universe! Inquiry from the truly curious souls or amazing praise deeply from their hearts, are keys to the treasure box of friendship! (ohlala, you may have the chance to meet friends with the same amazing hobby in this way!)

(7) Trigger your creativity and eagerness of experiment
Aiming at using the simplest equipment together with our creativity to make the best use of the camera to achieve infinite shooting effects, therefore, some limitations of the camera may need our creativity to compensate for it. Horizon doesn’t have the MX button for multiple exposure? Never mind, our brilliant Lomographer-ericeast has already found the solution!. The slowest shutter speed could only be 1/2s? Why not trying multiple 1/2s exposures to see how the resulting image looks like?

(8) Making “impossibles” possible
Try to shoot from different angles, either look upright to the sky or vice versa, you could capture the beautiful curve of the horizon!

Put your Horizon on the ground, on the table or close to the window…

Or even…give it a twist and spin it!

Love, is simple.

Communicate wholeheartedly, and you’ll find it could give you more than you imagine!
That’s true between Horizon and me, and it also works for you and your beloved camera.

What I’ve just said is just a little portion of the whole story; and in the future that’s coming forth, may I discover more and more about how amazing Horizon is…

So, which one is your favorite camera?

Don’t be shy, just say “I love you” to your beloved camera, and share with us how sweet your experience is when living with your petite camera sweetie!

Pushing Boundaries: Multiple Exposing Film Soup

As you may have read in my previous article, I truly fell in love with Lomography when I combined my Fisheye camera with an old Canon AE-1 for magical photographic results. Last summer, I took so many pictures of flowers that it started to become almost boring for me. My waning interest and the coming winter meant that I had to figure out something else to do with my 35mm film.

Transient Living: Armitage & McMillan in Denver, Colorado

If you want to know the heart of a person, peek inside his/her wardrobe! And no, nobody famous said that; I only just made it up. But really, don't you think it's true? After all, the way we dress screams our personality; at least for most of us. And that is why, as soon as I land on a new city, one of the things I absolutely must do is find the local boutiques. Sure, I love the fancy chain boutiques as much as the next person, but there's just something else about a local clothing store. It's unique!

    Fresh from the Lab: 1990

A weekend without a lomowalk seems bad, at least for me. One Saturday morning, I decided to join my friends in their lomowalk. It was all cloudy at first but it didn't stop me from going out and walking. I brought my new Nikon FM2 and some expired rolls, just to test my camera. Was it just me being sleepy, or was my Nikon FM2 acting up? My photos turned out grainy, pale, and, in my opinion, looking so 1990s?
