Arrifana's Beach

2

Longing for a road trip? The traditional itinerary of summer in Portugal always takes young Portuguese people to the outstanding Alentejo Coast. As the star and one of the main beaches that you cannot miss is Arrifana Beach.

A special beach, romantic, full of brightness and action. A bay of calm water, and during low tide, with plenty of room for beach games. This beach is a great place for couples, surfers, families, and children. On a visit to southern Portugal, more specifically, the west coast of Algarve, we cannot let go of this wonderful place.

Arrifana’s Beach leaves no one indifferent. After a drop of about 800 meters we found a narrow sandy beach that stretches for about one kilometer in a half moon shape surrounded by huge scarps. Under the typical scorching sun of Algarve let us refresh in a wonderful water ranging from a blanket of calm waters near the beach and a set of special waves for learning to surf. It is very normal to see children, adolescents and adults in surf lessons. This beach combines the temple of tan with exercise and fun. We found several people jogging and discovering the aquatic mysteries through the rocks.

After a good day of sun and water, go to the terrace where you can find various snacks, beer and good wine, where we delight while watching the sunset. Not even the ultimate ascent of 800m frightens us.

So get in your Volkswagen and hit the road. This beach is a must do, it’s definitely a place you will love!

The World According to Herr Willie: The Amazon

It was the Amazon which I had longed for my whole life. And when it was finally a set deal that I will travel to Brazil with two of my best friends for the Copa do Mundo (World Cup), we really had to start our adventure in the Amazon. I had known about this magical place deep in the rainforest. There was a lodge run by local people of indigenous background, with wooden houses that float on the water and a limited number of visitors. It was eco-tourism as how it should be. To preserve and to celebrate one of the most impressive locations I have seen so far.

    Registering Moments With the Lomo'Instant

Some people say instant photos bring about a feeling of nostalgia. Although I often use the Lomo'Instant Camera with different crazy accessories such as the Splitzer and color gels, I have to agree there is something about it — dreamy vignettes maybe? — that always makes me want to go back in time and experience it all over again. In the name of analogue photography and good old memories, we passed by some classic spots in Vienna and took one shot after the other. Take a closer look at our gallery.

Vintage Gallery: Headpieces from Around the World

A hat is in the position to be noticed before any other item of clothing. Its shape and texture can immediately call to mind cultural associations. A cloche is to 1920s fashion as a picture hat is to the 1900s. The wide-brimmed or fur-lined variety, on the other hand, is more functional for tribes.
