Picturesque Štrbské Pleso (Slovakia)

3

I’ve been to Štrbské Pleso twice, it’s a lake in the High Tatras area (middle up of Slovakia) and it was amazing.

I couldn’t believe I had the chance to visit this beautiful and picturesque place. My first time there, it was summer, so there were lots of greens, birds and nice weather. Second time was in fall – almost winter, different colors of plants and trees, no ducks near the lake, and overall cold weather.

I was liking the scene of inverted reflection in water, so lovely and peaceful, just like paradise. You can walk around the lake, experience the atmosphere and breathe in some phytoncide. Also, you can go camping or book a hotel here for a few nights, go hiking, or rock climbing.

In winter, I heard it’s a wonderful place for snow activities. It’s a pity that I couldn’t stay longer ‘til winter, but it gives me a good reason to come back to this place. Anyway, try to stop by Štrbské Pleso the next time you come to Slovakia!

    My Lomo’Instant Quick Tips

I backed the Kickstarter project for the Lomo’Instant earlier this year and was thrilled to receive it last week. I love how the camera naturally encourages you to experiment with its different features, whether it’s through flashing your multiple exposures with different colors or trying different creative techniques after your shots has been ejected. Here are a few tips from what I’ve discovered from playing with the camera so far (and a couple of tips I want to try out in future)!

I've been experimenting with many substances, more or less corrosives, for film manipulation. The images come out so different, that sometimes you can't even recognize them. The pictures in this experiment are a result of mixing bleach and detergent powder.

Rarely Seen Images of New York Showcased in Duane Michals' 'Empty New York'

New York City has long been synonymous to skyscrapers, throngs of people both locals and tourists, neon lights, entertainment, and all things loud and hip. It is, after all, a metropolis, a melting pot of cultures - the city that never sleeps. However, back in the 1960s, Duane Michals was able to capture these photographs of a New York that many people has rarely seen.
