I recently took a long overdue visit around the midlands where I grew up and found that the nicest way to soak up some springtime sunshine with your partner is definitely rowing a boat along the river in Stratford-upon-Avon.
As a child I have visited Straford-upon-Avon many, many times, usually for school to watch a Shakespeare play but also for a picnic with my family and so on and so forth. I had never been on a date there however and had certainly never been on a date on a boat before.
We hired a little rowing boat named “Viola” and she was a bargain at just £8 per hour (unlike the aggressive motor boats which were closer to £20 for 1/2 hour). And I found that it was so romantic and relaxing being sailed up and down the river by my gorgeous captain (fletchinski84), even when he was singing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” as can be seen above.
We took turns at rowing, often with disastrous consequences – and relaxing while taking photos of all the lovely things to be seen along the river banks (trees mainly).
The sun was beautifully hot beating down on us all afternoon, we even have the tan lines to prove it. I would recommend this to anyone who has a few hours to spare around Stratford as it was definitely the best £8 I have spent in a very long time.
