Leave Nothing but Footprints, Take Nothing but Pictures

Pack your bags, put on your shoes, and sling over your camera! The great outdoors await you!

If I can have it my way, I will spend much more time in the outdoors. I have always loved hiking. I probably took it from my brother who is a mountaineer himself. When I was 12 years old, he took me to my first climb, and ever since, I always look forward to opportunities to hike. However, due to a thoraco-lumbar scoliosis, I can only hike only on occasions.

Climbing of course is not an easy feat; nevertheless, it is as much fun as it is tiring. It is always a good thing to be surrounded by nature form time to time. Fresh mountain air is a thing of luxury, especially if you live in a congested metropolis. It is also a great time to spend with friends. More than that, you do have a good chance to meet a lot of interesting people along the way.

Any analogue photographer would also find such a gold mine of breathtaking landscapes and sceneries! That awesome sunset, and that even lovelier sunrise! Here are some photos I took from two of my climbing trips; taken with my Zenit 12XP loaded with Solidgold 200 film.

Climbing or hiking the great outdoors heightens one’s consciousness of the environment, and how much it is necessary to preserve its beauty; especially nowadays that we are confronted with the threat of climate change and environment degradation. Somehow, seeing what we can potentially lose touches the heart.

And, if you ever find yourself in the outdoors, remember this popular maxim, “Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but photos!
