Carnival (Lomographyc) 2011 in Rio de Janeiro

5

Before the eve of the carnival, everyone is focused on getting their Lomo On for the day of the party. The only problem though, which camera to use? All? Why, yes!

In the company of our coolest lomographer friend, Jorge Sato, we went through Rio de Janeiro to shoot the carnival groups, the crowd, cars spewing carnival sounds, to a place called, Sapucaí.

Even with the pouring rain, we were still able to hold successful shoots at the places we visited (that’s the best part about using cameras made of plastic). The place that we expected a lot from was the carnaval dance at the Lomographyc Shop. There were a lot of lomographers dressed in costumes dancing to the beat of carnival songs that were made exclusive to the event, coupled with drinks, food, and a lot of awesome conversations.

The great thing about the street scene was how our cameras turned out to be quite popular for regular folks that we didn’t really need to put on a costume anymore. Some people thought that we had alien cameras on (probable because of the glowing yellow ringflash ), while others thought that it was just toy cameras for play (not at all!). But for sure, everybody wanted to shoot with our Lomography cams.

For the next carnival, we definitely need to stock up on even more films.

seems like so much fun! its always amazing how film captures so much life. if only singapore had events like these; the colours and everything make it such well-lomo-worthy shots.
