Located in Porto, Portugal, the Dom Luis I Bridge is one of the most beautiful bridges I’ve ever seen.
The Dom Luis I Bridge is located in Porto, Portugal. The bridge links Porto with Vila Nova de Gaia over the Douro River and it is an “ex libris” of the city of Porto.
This bridge was engineered by the disciple of Gustave Eiffel, Téophile Seyrig and the similarities between this bridge and the Eiffel Tower are obvious. It was opened on 31 October 1886. It is a two-hinged double-deck arch bridge with a total length of 1.263.9 ft by 146 ft height and it weighs 3.045 tons. This massive iron beauty is very impressive and I can’t get tired of shooting it every time I visit Porto. It is as beautiful by day as it is by night and you can see an amazing view over Ribeira and Porto wine cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia.
This is definitely one of Portugal’s landmarks and I think it fits perfectly the Porto identity, a bridge that is rough and impressive as it is beautiful.
I divide people who travel to Portugal into two groups: those who prefer Porto and those who like Lisbon better. I love Porto, it's a little gem, but if I ever lived in Portugal I'd choose Lisbon in a heartbeat. It's got everything big cities have while staying beautiful and romantic and the same time.
The expansive 6x12 format allows you to capture a vast space that makes for jaw-dropping photos; whether landscape, portrait or anything else you feel like shooting. Porto, the second biggest city in Portugal, has a lot of interesting architectural sights to offer, from the prestigious concert hall Casa da Musica to the social housing complex designed by Alvaro Siza Vieira.
Thirty-five degrees. Summer. Lisbon. Seven hills. Worst combination ever! What better to do than to escape the horrible heat of a tropical summer day in Lisbon with its too many hills to a fabulous beach that is just one bridge away? It's enough to just cross the stunning 25th of April Bridge to arrive in an exotic paradise, with great waves and even better people.

The Algarve region in the south of Portugal attracts tourists from all over Europe all year round. But what most people (luckily) don't know is that there is still a great unexplored part of the coast in Algarve, away from the masses and the cities. Come and see the Costa Vicentina, a diamond on Portugal's southwest coast.

In many of the places I've travelled, I've seen small, yellow amphibious tour buses -- the ubiquitous 'Ducks.' In some places the pleasure cruisers are encouraged to blow duck whistles, but everywhere they tour on land before descending into the city's waterway. I decided to become a tourist in my own town and ride the London duck.
