Tucked away in the depths of Seedy Soho where most things are probably bad for you is a surprisingly healthy little, vegetarian restaurant called Maoz.
This clean-cut little diner specializes in selling falafel…you can buy different sized portions of falafel with extra stuff. And by stuff, I’m talking various fillings of your choice – fried aubergines, humus, sauces, with bread, without bread, it’s all up to you. It’s a simple concept, but it’s great!
The falafel tastes really good – with humus is my favourite – but the hook for me, and it’s a big hook because I have eyes bigger than my belly and I love large portions, is the ‘help yourself’ salad buffet.
You can load up your falafel with as much salad as you want. And like the little piggy that I am, I make a mountain. And here’s a little tip which makes this place even better, (I’m not sure if you’re actually supposed to do this, but I go here all the time and no-one has stopped me yet) – use a fork to eat your falafel and salad so that the pita bread is empty, then go up and refill your bread with a 2nd portion of free salad. Hey, they did say ‘Help Yourself’
Why you should go to Maoz:the food tastes great, the portions are huge, it’s HEALTHY and you can fill yourself up for under a fiver.
