Victoria's Inner Harbour

Even though it's a 1300 km drive from my home, this is the place that I need to go to at least every other year. There's just something in the air and the atmosphere here that relaxes me like no place else.

Even though it’s a 1300 km drive from my home, this is the place that I need to go to at least every other year. There’s just something in the air and the atmosphere here that relaxes me like no place else.

The Inner Harbor in Victoria is sheltered from the ocean, and has been a popular place for ships for a couple of centuries (that’s a long time by Canadian standards!).

In the summertime, the walkway down by the water is packed with tourists gawking at the buskers. There’s a caricature artist who has been drawing people’s pictures there for at least 15 years, and he’s the best I’ve seen anywhere.

This is also the place where tourists (the ones with money) come to catch a 3-hour killer whale (orca) watching tour. One day I’ll spring the cash for it, but until I’m rich, I’ll be happy with the cheapo harbor ferry ride to the floating fish and chips place where the seal pokes his head out of the water looking for handouts. :)

It’s impossible to not find the inner harbor if you’re in Victoria – it’s the place where all the tourists are headed. Also, the passenger ferry from Washington (USA) docks right there.

(If you’re there, ask for directions to Market Square – about a 10 minute walk – that’s where you’ll find my favorite shop in town, Camera Traders)

March Frenzy: Tottenham Takes Over the V&A

I went to the Victoria & Albert Museum's Friday Late, an event that takes place every last Friday evening of the month. For March 2014, the London borough of Tottenham was invited to curate an evening of creativity. There were a number of events that went on ranging from music and art to fashion and film. Accompanied by my LC-A+ and Fisheye No. 2, here are my highlights of that evening in photographs.

Transient Living: Getting to Know the Neighborhood in Denver, Colorado

<i>Editor's Note: The past several years saw <b><a href="http://www.lomography.com/homes/maliha">Maliha</a></b> frequently moving from one place to another, a sort of nomad who likes the thrill of starting anew and finding her place in every city she stays at. In the last decade she has spent in the USA, Maliha has stayed at six different cities in five different states. Currently, Maliha is based in Denver, Colorado, and "Transient Living," a new series in the Lomography magazine, documents her experiences and the ways that she has come to call this city her home.</i>

12 Months, 12 Projects: March Of Caffenol

My list of resolutions for 2015 consists of 12 projects, one for every month. March was for caffenol. You have probably heard of the amazing fact that you can develop black and white photos with coffee, sodium, and vitamin C. I had tried this before but with less than stellar results. Somehow, there's always something going wrong. Time to devote a few rolls to caffenol to finally get the hang of it.

    Registering Moments With the Lomo'Instant

Some people say instant photos bring about a feeling of nostalgia. Although I often use the Lomo'Instant Camera with different crazy accessories such as the Splitzer and color gels, I have to agree there is something about it — dreamy vignettes maybe? — that always makes me want to go back in time and experience it all over again. In the name of analogue photography and good old memories, we passed by some classic spots in Vienna and took one shot after the other. Take a closer look at our gallery.

Travel Stories: Trekking Mount Papandayan by shufi

There are about 127 active volcanoes in Indonesia, one of the most popular ones being Mount Papandayan, located 2,665 meters above sea level in Garut, West Java. My boyfriend and I usually go hiking together so we decided to spend our long weekend holiday (three days/two nights) at Mount Papandayan.

    A Compilation of Lomo'Instant Stories

There are many possible reasons for taking pictures. It could be to document an event, to capture breathtaking scenery, to preserve a fond memory, or simply, to have a snapshot of someone close to your heart. Whatever the reason, there's almost always a story behind a picture, no matter how significant or trivial it may be. And for lomographers, nothing beats the feeling of having that story unfold in your hand, in the form of a print. If you want a quick keepsake from that treasured moment or a snapshot of that special someone though, you can have it instantly, through Lomo'Instant Stories!
