Fuji Provia (35mm, 400 iso) user-review

X-pro Perfection: Fuji Provia is a beautiful film to shoot cross-processed photos with. Capable of a wide range of blues and greens, depending on what lighting you are shooting in, you will easily fulfill your satisfaction for impressive color shifts and intense contrasts when using this film.

I have shot a roll of this stuff in bright, sunny, middle-of-the-day weather and found the results to be mouth-watering blues, sun-shiny oranges & browns, and glowing skin tones.

I have also shot with this film during overcast, slightly rainy, almost gloomy weather (in the middle of downtown Portland) and received haunting images, sci-fi greens, and earth & metal tones that draw you straight into the heart of the photo (one particular image that really caught me was the one of the drinking fountain).

And while you’re at it, and possibly find yourself near northwest Oregon, here’s a mini dream team package for you: Vivitar ultra wide & slim (cheap camera…great vignetting…even greater when cross processed) + Fuji Provia 400 speed (xpro’ed) + downtown Portland on an overcast day = poignant and evocative pictures with emerald and olive greens that’ll amaze.

If you like subtle, realistic results, I wouldn’t recommend cross-processing this film. If you like surreal, memorably intense photos, then I say go for it and don’t look back!
