Hamburg - the City of Fish, Rain and My Dreams

2

I still remember the first time I've been to this precious city. I immediately fell in love with its beauty, its atmosphere, its buildings, and of course its shopping street. ;-)

Hamburg has so much to offer and you will never stop to discover something new when walking through its beautiful old town. The last time I’ve been there, there was an igloo made of fridges placed on a huge square and upon entering the igloo you can see the interior of those fridges and other electronics like an old Macintosh computer. This should set as an example of the population’s too high energy consumption.

Furthermore, there are some shops located in Hamburg that you can only find abroad like Urban Outfitters or Monki. Especially in the Monki shop, you can take some extravagant Lomographs due to its crazy interior fittings

Here’s another insider tip: Hamburg is one of the few cities worldwide where you still can find one of those vintage photo machines – check it out: www.photoautomat.de/standorte-hamburg.html www.photoautomat.de/standorte-hamburg.html

And don’t forget to visit the famous Fischmarkt, Hafencity, and Speicherstadt!

Lomography Fisheye No.2: Seven Years of Wonder

Exactly seven years ago, I bought this camera from Indonesia's local Lomography community. I remember having some savings in my bank account and just spending it all on this camera. At that time, I browsed the microsite for the Lomography Fisheye No.2 and immediately fell in love with it! Coincidentally, my friend who introduced me to Lomography just bought this same camera for his birthday. My life has changed ever since I had the Fisheye, my first lomographic camera.

Swirling in Bokeh: Ines Rehberger Tests the New Petzval Art Lens

In spite of being a trained photographer, Ines quit her job and continued with photography only as a hobby. She still finds time to create beautiful, expressive portraits, which she recently did this in her hometown, Brunswick, and transformed the city into a quintessential dream setting with a unique swirly bokeh effect. Her weapon of choice? The New Petzval Art Lens, of course!

    Changing Seasons: Durham in Autumn

Durham is a beautiful but tiny university city in the north of England famous for its amazing cathedral, which is one of Britain's best loved buildings. When I was studying at the university, I loved to go for crisp, autumnal walks around the cathedral and the river, kicking the leaves and basking in the golden glow of the season. The Lomography Redscale film perfectly captures the beauty of this time of year.

Solo Biking Routes: Ubud in Bali, Indonesia

Have you all watched "Eat, Pray, Love"? I was inspired by Julia Roberts, who rode a bicycle in that movie, so I decided to rent one and try it myself! This happened two years ago but I still remember my biking route. To all of you who haven't been to Ubud, I think you should visit the place and try to go around in a bicycle!

The LomoChrome Purple and How Its Colors Convinced Me in the End

I wasn't very impressed when the LomoChrome Purple was first released. At least not so much that I wanted to get my hands on it at once. Of course I liked some pictures but eventually, I wanted to test it and what can I say? It was love at first sight!

    My Lomo’Instant Quick Tips

I backed the Kickstarter project for the Lomo’Instant earlier this year and was thrilled to receive it last week. I love how the camera naturally encourages you to experiment with its different features, whether it’s through flashing your multiple exposures with different colors or trying different creative techniques after your shots has been ejected. Here are a few tips from what I’ve discovered from playing with the camera so far (and a couple of tips I want to try out in future)!

Kick-Off Country: Kicking Off the World Cup Blues in Paris

Les Bleus may have been booted out of the World Cup by Germany, but for me France is always a winner. The number of places to go around Paris, especially, can never be exhausted: the Eiffel Tower, Sacré Cœur, the Seine, the Arc de Triomphe, and this time, I fell in love with the Cimetière du Père-Lachaise.

Seeing Manila in a Whole New Light

I've photographed this city many times in the past—in color, black and white, and even in redscale. One day in March, the streets of Manila once again became my subject. Only this time, they turned into otherworldly places as the LomoChrome Turquoise drastically shifted its colors...at least on film.
