Dollina 135 Bellows Camera - My Dad's Old Camera

4

I shot 2 rolls of AgfaPhoto APX 100 35mm with this camera, the photos evokes a vintage feel. I want to capture all fleeting moments and what I can see with Dollina 135.

Without saying a word, my dad passed the camera to me. He knew that I love photography and is the most suitable recipient for this gem. This camera is useless for those who don’t know how to appreciate it and will at most be a large paperweight.

This vintage camera is older than me, having been made in Germany in 1935. It accompanied my dad through World War 2’s baptism of fire. It used to belong to one of his fallen comrades, which he is reminded of every time he lays his eyes on the camera.

In my hands, this vintage camera is a heavyweight. It shows some minor wear and rust on the surface. However, it works perfectly with accurate aperture, shutter speed, and proper winding. It is able to operate without a battery, ka-chak, ka-chak, the shutter slap is music to my ears. I love all things mechanical from that bygone era.

As long as I treat it with tender loving care, this unique bellows camera should be able to last forever. As long as I don’t advance the film, I can shoot multiple exposures on the same frame, it will record what it sees faithfully. I shot 2 rolls of AgfaPhoto APX 100 35mm with this camera, the photos evokes a vintage feel. I want to capture all fleeting moments and what I can see with Dollina 135.

Fresh from the Lab: Silvia Precisa

Recently, I used my trusty Fuji Silvi. It may not be my all-time favorite camera, but I just wanted to use it because I kind of missed shooting with it. So I decided to look through my film stash to see what I could use with the Fuji Silvi. After much consideration, I ended up picking the old Agfa CT Precisa ISO 100 to get that classic blue tone. Silvia Precisa!

    Registering Moments With the Lomo'Instant

Some people say instant photos bring about a feeling of nostalgia. Although I often use the Lomo'Instant Camera with different crazy accessories such as the Splitzer and color gels, I have to agree there is something about it — dreamy vignettes maybe? — that always makes me want to go back in time and experience it all over again. In the name of analogue photography and good old memories, we passed by some classic spots in Vienna and took one shot after the other. Take a closer look at our gallery.

    Chemical Manipulations with the Lomo’Instant

Perhaps you’ve already had chance to try light painting, multiple exposures and long exposures with your Lomo’Instant, but what can you experiment with next? Well, that’s exactly the thought I had which led to giving this Tipster a go. I wanted to shoot Lomo’Instant photos which felt a bit “messier” than what I’m usually used to and to use a technique which would open up new possibilities with the kinds of images I could create with my favorite instant camera. Well, here I go!
