Go Analogue For a Day Rumble

Can you live without the internet for a day? How about your laptop or computer? Your Phone? We challenge you guys to try it out for a day and tell us your experiences!

Credits: -joao-

Have you ever imagined doing it? In today’s modern age, it will probably be one of the most difficult things you’ll ever do but I’m pretty sure it will be quite an experience! So for one day, we want you guys to forgo technology and do everything analogue style! No internet, TV, cellphones or microwaves. Quite a challenge eh? After you’re done in your day of solitude, write a blog post about it and post the link here. The most liked and commented blog post will win 15 Piggies while 2 runners-up get 5 each. Good luck. You’ll need it!

It's going analogue for the day that ruined my career as a surgeon. Thankfully I'm now a pilot. Anybody travelling on the jumbo to New York Wednesday morning should bring a parachute! ;-)

i do this all the time. I don't have a t.v, my village is all gas cooking & cash only. All i have to do is have a fight with my girl friend, turn off my phone and p.c and read a book. I do it all the time. It'd be a pretty boring blog though.

I can and often do go without technology; just that these often become either 1) a popularity contest or 2) who can spam the community for "likes" best. What is we picked the winner on merit?

Ok, and if I have, somewhere, an analogue TV and some old vhs tapes? I could use an analogic clock and I could also could listen vinyls...

I can't do this. Not only would I simply cry if I don't play WoW, I have to be online a lot for my job. I wish everyone in this rumble a lot of luck. I know I would go insane.

I do agree with @rav_bunneh on this somehow... sometimes, it's really just a popularity contest ... and I doubt I can have 24hours without technology!
So what... No cars? No trains? Hmm... I'd rather if the rumble was something like ... submitting photos of us/people, doing things the analogue way? Hmmm.....

This was a period of time when i was unemployed, had no internet connection, had no cable and my mobile phone line suspended. Took a bus to town, decided to stop at a certain point and walk, in my hand, my 1st camera my parents bought for me. Olympus AF 80G. (i knew this was a hand down as i've seen them use it for a few of years but i loved it.) I bought a Kodak negative, load up and started my street shots. Oblivious to stares of those holding on to their expensive Digital Compacts, a fad back then in Y2K. The Thieves Market was one of the places i wanted to shoot. 36 frames is not much for long walks of street photography. With not much else to do, i just surveyed the market. Old, battered, layered with dust-on-grease-on-dust old Nikons, Yashicas, Vivitars, Minoltas, Contax, Rolleis lined the neat stall... or heaped up forming a mountain on another stall... Rolls of film scattered these stalls. And they've even got exposed ones on sale. Well, since i was on a shoestring budget. i picked up one, furiously bargaining for it. I paid 20 cents, load up and shoot. Back home at a local lab, i was stunned when i was told to come back in 2 weeks to collect my photos. The Kodak negative,i can come a couple of days to collect, the lady told me. But not the one that i bought from the market as she needed to send it out for another lab to process. Now that was my 1st color slide film, and i was scolded by the lady for using expired film.

I am chiming in with @awesomesther and @rav_bunneh on this rumble. I'd love to take part, but the constant self-promo to bring in votes isn't worth it. It would be nice if Lomo did read the blogs and choose the one from merit.

I agree with @rav_bunneh and the others, these "let's see who gets the more likes and comments" competitions are totally useless. There are brilliant lomographers who just don't have the time to network, that doesn't mean their work is lesser.
