A True Tale of Lomographic Love

38

She was an analogue ambassador known as Golfpunkgirl and he was a dastardly digital doter called benbenbenbenben. He lived in the UK and she in Brussels, their story began when he commented on this photo on her Flickr stream....

He asked her what all this LC-A+ business was about, and how she got such amazing unique effects in all her photos. She guided him into the world of Lomography and he got hooked. They chatted over email, about photography tips, what they were shooting, places they’d been, bands they liked, they realised they had a lot in common.

She had tickets to see Explosions In The Sky on the 10th of May but her friend let her down at the last minute. So on a whim she asked him if he’d like to come. He bought a Eurostar ticket and met her at the gig.

43 days later he proposed. While they walked through the park snapping away on their favourite Lomographic cameras he fashioned a ring out of a daisy chain. Here are a couple of photos from that day, notice the accidental diamond ring double exposure! It must be fate…

Friends and family were invited with an envelope of postcards printed with their favourite lomographs. They married, exactly 8 months after the day they met, on the 10th of January in the Philippines and because it all started with an LC-A+ they gave each of their guests a handcarved wooden LC-A+ as a wedding gift.

Liana and Ben have just celebrated their second anniversary, and if you’d like to congratulate them yourself, pop along to the Lomography Gallery Store in Newburgh Street, London, where Liana is the manager!

Angela Izzo on Shooting with the Diana Mini, Photographing Musicians, and Then Some

While many of us can only dream of working with musicians and photographing them, Angela Izzo's job entails exactly that. Apparently, this is a fulfillment of her own dream that she had when she was younger. In this interview, Izzo talks about her beginnings which, of course, included going to as many shows and festivals as she possibly can; some of her most memorable on-the-job-experiences with the likes of The Doors, Lykke Li, Jack White, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Chris Robinson Brotherhood; her inspirations and other interests; and her love for film photography and Diana Mini. A Salute to the Masters: Judo (A Tribute to Sabine Weiss)

This article is a tribute to the street and humanist photographer Sabine Weiss. Considered a living legend in street photography, she likes to photograph daily lives of people, trying to capture the emotions she recognizes around her. Weiss like to photograph people of all ages but she especially loves to take photos of children, masterfully immortalizing their spontaneous gestures and emotions. For this article, I was inspired by one of her rare sports photos of some children practicing judo. Do you want to know more about this great artist? Well, read on!

There are many possible reasons for taking pictures. It could be to document an event, to capture breathtaking scenery, to preserve a fond memory, or simply, to have a snapshot of someone close to your heart. Whatever the reason, there's almost always a story behind a picture, no matter how significant or trivial it may be.
