Moledo - Yellow Sand, Blue Water & Red Sky

3

Moledo Beach is a small beach in Portugal famous for its simplicity and natural beauty. Like most of the beaches in the north of the country, it’s a place that changes completely during summertime, it suddenly turns from a quiet place to a trendy place.

This beautiful beach has blue flag* and good access. The north wind is a particular characteristic from this area of the country like the cold water and strong waves which compose ideal scenarios for surfing, bodyboarding and windsurfing. You can contemplate on the amazing sunset that so well distinguishes Portugal and its big coastline. Even if you have sunny and hot days at night it can get really cold.

From the sand you can see the Mysterious Island and the Fort Ínsua that stands approximately 200m from the coast in the Minho River’s mouth. You can reach it, taking a small boat or you can wait for the phenomenon that occurs twice in a century that you can cross through one sand strip that connects the island to the beach. The last time was in 2003.

From the beach your eyes can also reach Spain, the St Tecla Mountain with its strange shape.

I love summertime however my favourite time to go there is during winter. Just chill on the rocks and contemplate by the sea. It belongs to no one but me.
