You all have it at home - and it will spice up your photos
There have been reviews, tipsters and lab rats about salt and film. Vicuna dropped his camera in the sea, mandi made risotto and I? I just took an Agfa Vista 200, Salt and boling water, put all in a little bowl and let it cool down. To dry I just put it on the heater for some weeks. When I was sure it already gone dry, I loaded it into my LC-A, set it to 200 iso (so the same ISO the film has), went out and shot the frames in Utrecht, Netherlands.
That was it – for me.
The problem was how to get the photos developed?! Should I just give them to the one hour lab here and run the danger the salt will damage the machines and they will kill me coming back getting the film?
Well, I decided to call my photolab (Fotofachlabor Wacker in Pforzheim, Germany) and informed him what I did to the film. He used one time chemicals and not the regular ones to develop my lab rat films. I really like the results!!! The purple is due to the heat of the boiling water (I guess as I have seen it on old films or if films were heated up) and you can see the salt grains – VERYNICE!
I will definitely try this again – but I guess I will dry the film in a dark room with a hair dryer,so it does not glue and stick and damage the camera…

For the last year we've been working on the next version of Lomography. We based our work on the feedback you’ve given us over the years and we wanted to share it as early as possible with you and can’t wait to hear what you think. Just one warning first: it is still in development and things can break. All the photos, comments, likes, homes and everything else were transferred as of October 16th, 2014. So anything you do on next.lomography.com won't be reflected on www.lomography.com and vice versa. Once we are done with testing, everything you did here will be deleted again. So this is a big playground for you to explore.
