Think outside the box! Mix and match accessories from different cameras. Like Frankenstein's monster, it may seem a little strange...but it's what's on the inside that counts! This experiment can lead to some very beautiful and unique images!
I love using camera accessories and filters to add different effects to my photographs. One day, when I was lamenting the fact that I had no such filters for Lomo Fisheye…An idea strucked me! It’s actually very easy to transfer some accessories from one camera to another to get the visual effects you desire!
You won’t need to make any permanent alterations to your cameras.
What you’ll need:
- Your cameras
- Any kind of sticky tape
- As many camera filters as you can get your hands on!
I started with my Holga because it has a handy filter holder that fits over the lens. (There is also a double filter holder for Holga, which lets you have even more fun!)
Next, I placed the filter holder over the lens of my Lomo Fisheye. Be CAREFUL! The filter holder won’t fit snugly, so you’ll have to tape it or make sure to hold it firmly in place while you are shooting.
Be sure to experiment with all sorts of cameras and filters!
One last piece of advice…tape the filters to your camera to keep them secure if you’ll be shooting with them for a while. If you’ll be changing them out pretty frequently, then using your hand to hold them up to the lens works just as well.
I’ve just talked about two cameras, but I’m sure there’s no limit to the possibilities here. Let your imagination run wild and see what you create! I’d love to see your images!
