Realtime Visualization of Users Browsing Photos

34

Our latest experiment on Lomography Playground: a realtime visualization of users browsing photos.

Photos and users from around the world

Everytime a user looks at a photo on our website dots get added to this map: a pink dot symbolizes the position of the user, a blue dot the position of the photo (if the photo is geotagged, otherwise we can’t show it on the map) this user is looking at. Clicking on it will open the last photo seen in that position.

See it in action at www.lomography.com/playground/realtime and let us know what you think of it in the comments here! And just in case you missed yesterday’s experiment, take a look here (a new approach to showing all geotagged photos and LomoLocations).

wow cool!!!! I especially like the color coding of user and photos, but i guess i should try at a more decent hour, cos it seems like there is only 4-5 of us around right now, not enough dots!

@all: thanks for the nice feedback so far! @stouf: something similar to that will come – first we are trying to improve the general nearby feature, then bringing it to each home

Excellent work!!!! just a note, the pixels(dot) get clustered when there's too many pic viewed within the same region...would be even better if we can zoom in/out (like google map)

So here’s what we’ve been working on: an all new lomography.com

For the last year we've been working on the next version of Lomography. We based our work on the feedback you’ve given us over the years and we wanted to share it as early as possible with you and can’t wait to hear what you think. Just one warning first: it is still in development and things can break. All the photos, comments, likes, homes and everything else were transferred as of October 16th, 2014. So anything you do on next.lomography.com won't be reflected on www.lomography.com and vice versa. Once we are done with testing, everything you did here will be deleted again. So this is a big playground for you to explore.

Analogue Archives: The Chakras of Colorsplashing, Revisited

Chances are you've seen plenty of color-drenched photographs while browsing through the Photos section. Faces painted blue, pets tinted green, and foliage splashed with pink light. It's called "Colorsplashing," one of Lomography's earliest techniques for giving your shots a quick color boost. We dug through the Lomography archives to revisit "The Chakras of Colorsplashing," a special project created by Lomography and Staple Design six years ago.
