Hoping to get a sense of Oahu Island's natural beauty in Hawaii and what it has to offer, I set out for a day of exploring. Get your film and camera ready for a fun and totally free day trip that will take your from the Pacific to the inside of Koko Head Crater.
When going out for a day trip on the island of Oahu, Hawaii there is really no need to spend any money at all. There are places of beauty that are totally free as well as fun for every nature-minded Lomographer. Let me take you on a tour of a favorite day trip of mine where we went from the Pacific Ocean up to Koko Crater Botanical Gardens. Before you head out for the same destination, however, fill up a bottle of water in case you get thirsty later and slather on lots of sunscreen.
Our final destination was at the east end of the island – to the unfinished Koko Crater Botanical Gardens. The botanical garden is a work in progress but even in its wild state it is very stunning. Before we got there though there are two scenic turnouts along the way for you to stop at. These are located just after you pass Haunama Bay on Highway 72. The first place is simply stunning with breathtaking views of the Pacific. The other also sports a blow hole in the rocks. When the wave hits, the ocean water sprays up into the air. For this day trip you need to stop at both places to take in the sights.
Next, we embarked on a short drive from the scenic lookouts up to Koko Head to the Koko Crater Botanical Garden. This is an unfinished botanical garden and there are no facilities. This is why I urged you to bring water. What you will find there is a moderate two-and-a-half mile trail through Koko Crater. This is a loop trail so you will end up exactly where you started. Need a map? In the parking lot, there is an unmarked black mailbox. Look inside the black mailbox and you’ll find a stack of maps. Take your time on the trail and enjoy the wild natural beauty of the surrounding crater.
Brazil is an awesome country for traveling. There's so much to explore, each place very different from one another. It will definitely take a stretch of trips just to get to know this this South American pearl. I finished my copa tour last year in Marajó, the island of bulls—it just might be an eternal highlight for me.

You know that place you always picture in your head when you think of your dream holiday destination? That was Machu Picchu for me. Last May I decided to go for it and embarked on a two-and-a-half-week trip around Peru with my boyfriend.
My wife and I suffered a family loss in October 2013 so we decided to shift things around and have a celebration of life—a wedding, actually—to associate our loss with the beginning of something positive and memorable. We have been together for nearly 13 years and after getting married, we headed off on a three-month trip to South America and a few other stops to complete a round-the-world loop back to Australia.
Some days, things seem to align for your street shot. The subjects form photo-ready queues that mimic architectural details around. Other times, an arrangement is made. Stretch this way, pose here, move a little forward for a group picture in strategic shapes and patterns.

Light Painting is a cool technique that we love to do when we're in the mood for experimenting with photos. It's super easy and fun, and it only requires a dark room, a friend or two to collaborate with, a camera with long exposure mode and a light painting tool to get started. Check out 50 of the most vibrant light painting photos taken by your fellow Lomographers after the cut!
