Lomovember is a unique, annual charity event held in the month of November. The annual exhibition showcases the work of talented young Perth lomographers, whilst supporting Movember- a worldwide moustache growing phenomenon that occurs each year in support of research for prostate cancer and men’ s mental health.
The exhibition, which is in its third year, will open on the night of Friday 19th of November at the Lomovember Gallery where over 100 images taken by Perth lomographers will be on display and sold via silent auction. Prizes and…awards will be awarded to and a $5 entry fee and profits from a silent auction of the prints will raise funds for Movember- supporting prostate cancer and men’s heath research.
The exhibition will run for three days, with photographic workshops being held over the weekend. Lomovember 2010, is predicted to attract over 700 people on opening night, and 1500 people for the duration of the weekend. Lomovember is a great event because it allows any person with an eye for photography to give it a go and display their work. It’s about inspiring our community with great photos from both amateurs and professionals. You don’t need to be a professional photographer to be able to take shots worthy of display – lomo is for everyone!

When asked to recall the moment they first became truly interested in photography, most photographers would remember the magical feeling of picking up a hand-me-down or secondhand camera, the thrill of shooting an entire roll through, and the elation upon seeing and holding their first ever set of photographs. Caleb Savage, however, had quite a unique experience. At 10 years old, he had his first taste of working in the darkroom making prints at Boy Scout camp, thereby beginning a more than a decade-long affinity with photography.
