With language, we can construct an intelligible self, but not a soul. Our soul precedes, dwarfs, and transcends language, eluding all attempts to define it...what IS a soul?
Name: Camila Kerwin Age: 20 Occupation: Student/Essayist Dream: Open a coffee store/ book shop named “owlcove” in New York’s East Village and hold readings and performances featuring local talent.
Camila is smarter than most people you have met. And i don’t mean she just knows more than they do. I mean she’s smarter. Camila masters every challenge thrown at her. She rips on the guitar, draws incredible Tim Burton-esque black and white characters, sings with an incredible clarity of voice, and writes essays that change people. These essays literally take a person, flip them upside down, shake them a little, then maybe a little more, and then another flip. Although already published in a New York University textbook, Camila, the perfectionist, is never fully pleased with her work, but continues to write with the hope that one day she will feel complete satisfaction with a final product. Camila is a genius with passion and drive that will propel her towards her dreams.
OK it may not feel like spring in Chicago, but it can if you believe! We're pretending the flowers are blooming, and going back to our regular hours (11am -7pm everyday). That's not all! We've got our usual slew of fun workshops planned out for all of you, and our second annual St. Patrick's Day Scavenger Hunt! Can you believe it's been a year since the last one? Since this is round two, we expect everyone to bring their A-game!
We know we've been raving about Venice since last month, but how can we not get enamored with it, when our fellow lomographers have nothing but postcard-worthy lomographs and wanderlust-inducing stories to tell about it?
We can all come up with all sorts of useful ways to utilize bubble wrap, but not everyone would instantly think of using it as a medium to create art - just like how New York-based artist Bradley Hart had!
We don't have the slightest idea how this photograph became a feast of pink galaxies, clouds, and orbs. But this peculiarity is exactly what made it deserving to be our Photo of the Day! Congratulations to olga_primavera!
One of the great things about photography is that we can look at the world and preserve that image on print instead of just looking at it again and again in our heads. Also, we can create a world as we’d like it to be – with everything just the way we like them.
Young Austrian photographer and Fine Art student Julia Tröndle first caught our attention earlier this month through her fascinating work in poetic photography. When we got in touch with her for an interview, we were also able to find out that she not only shoots but also writes poetry, and is a big fan of Lomography as well! Read on to find out more about our featured photographer – from her beginnings in analogue photography to The Poetic Photography Collection – as well as see a selection of her work that she has personally collated!
For the last year we've been working on the next version of Lomography. We based our work on the feedback you’ve given us over the years and we wanted to share it as early as possible with you and can’t wait to hear what you think. Just one warning first: it is still in development and things can break. All the photos, comments, likes, homes and everything else were transferred as of October 16th, 2014. So anything you do on next.lomography.com won't be reflected on www.lomography.com and vice versa. Once we are done with testing, everything you did here will be deleted again. So this is a big playground for you to explore.
It's only been a couple of days since Lomography launched its first dedicated instant camera via Kickstarter, but it seems to have already caused quite a stir not only here in the community but in other websites as well. See what the press is saying about the new Lomo'Instant camera in this first of two parts of our press recaps!

Probably each one of you has been annoyed with failed film. This is particularly annoying when you get the developed film back from the lab, but you get blanks because the film was not exposed. It's either the film transport didn't work, or you have not taken the lens cap off, etc. Read on and I'll show you an alternative to just throwing away the film: Simply use it as a color filter for your camera, with the La Sardina for example.
