Some Changes, Additions and Worked in Feedback on the Community Site

35

Over the last days we've gone through your comments and started working on your feedback. In this article I am just summing up the first things we did – thanks again for all your feedback and keep it coming!

Trying to be that fast working in your feedback…

To make the Activity page a bit less crowded and easier to use we’ve created three tabs: “All activity”, “All activity by others” and “All activity by you” – this way you can see more easily what’s been happening in your home.

To make the selection of photos in Competitions and LomoWalls easier, we’ve included two links: “older photos” and “newer photos” (right above the scrollbar) – so if you see ten photos on one page and you want to see the next ten, just click “older photos” or “newer photos” to scroll to them.

The header menu is now less nervous (or let’s say more forgiving when the mouse leaves the area by some pixels) – this should make the navigation easier.

That’s it for now. But expect even more features very soon – it has something to do with LomoWalls. And comments. And likes. Need more clues?

I was wondering what's the difference between Activity and Notifications? my mouse goes right up Notification every time and almost never on Activity, then, why the three new categories of research are not implemented in the Notification too?

Maybe once a week you can publish a news article, with the coming articles that will be published the next week. Or do it monthy. That way it will be kind of a teaser but it will also inform us the status of our articles we have written. Or email us and tell us the order our article will be publish. I know yall keep telling us to just wait, but my piggies expire date keeps getting closer and closer. It would be less stressful for us if there was some kind of notification method. I used to get an email saying that my article is being reviewed and the date it would be published, but I did not receive one the last 2 articles I wrote. - @recurving, Thanks for all the things you have done so far with this website, It makes everything so much better

how about a function that you get a notification if someone commented on an article... e.g. now it is sooooooooooo interesting to see what people write on the guess the mystery product.... so now only the one who wrote it gets the notification... if you could sign up for articles you like, that'd be great

Hi @recurving wonderful work here!!! There are a few things that work weird with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer, at least for me :)
    - cannot LIKE an article, click does nothing
    - cannot LIKE AND GO TO NEXT PIC, doesn't go to next page
    - when clicking on the MARK ALL ANOTATIONS AS READ button, a download box opens and offers to download a file. I click cancel. Then when going on another page the notifications are marked as read.
    - cannot FOLLOW people, click does nothing

cheers, I love the new features!
    Martin

@elvismartinezsmith: thanks for the report, gonna look into that!
@panelomo and @jaalvarez: haha, i would share the piggies evenly with the team… though we won't be allowed to spend them – so more for you!
@satomi: this is my goal :)

Doug DuBois on My Last Day at Seventeen

Doug DuBois spent five summers photographing the small neighborhood of Russell Heights in Ireland to capture the essence of coming of age: the inevitable loss of youth and the imminent transition into adulthood. Those four years resulted in his latest book, My Last Day At Seventeen. The book is a visual tale told through a collection of photographs and gives an alternative perspective through a comic narrative around the same subject. This creative combination of two distinct narratives in one book not only works wonderfully in visual terms; it also serves as an essential tool that lets the reader dig deeper into the story being told, making one go back to the book over and over again, yet from a new perspective, every single time.

    A Color Remix

It's human nature to be restless and imaginative. The real may be interpreted as what one sees or how one sees something. For the daydreamer, a scene from nature transforms into a canvas. Suddenly a field makes room for chemical coloring, all those anachronistic streaks that somehow look right. Or else, those beautiful colors amplified or subdued to their most pictorial shades. All in the world of trial-and-process film photography.
