Yay!! For Blue Skies

20

When it’s sunny outside with scattered clouds or maybe with just a puff or two, you can never go wrong with this roll bursting with BLUE!

“Yay!!!!!!!!!!!” For Blue Skies!

The Kodak Ektachrome E200 is my default film for any event, outdoor location, and camera! The ISO 200 can be used with any 35mm camera — whether it’s a Lomo LC-A, a Diana Mini, a Holga135BC or a Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim. You can take it anywhere – in your car, in the street, in an amusement park, or in a state park! There is only one prerequisite for me: the sky!

The Sky, You Ask Me Why?

Reason No. 1: It gives you a new and refreshing view! This is the main reason why I have come to love this film! Well at least for me, it has given me a different view of Sin City. Nine out of 10 times I am in Las Vegas, I go to the Downtown Strip in the evening. I mean, who would want to walk under the sun when the casino lights are out, right? However, I take it back now: it’s as lovely to shoot with the sun up! You can actually see the beauty of the structures, not just the dazzling lights… And look at that bright blue sky! Doesn’t it make Las Vegas look so clean and healthy?

The Downtown Strip Never Looked so Refreshing!

Reason No. 2: It gives your pictures more excitement and energy! We went to Disneyland California and I couldn’t imagine the heat and the size of the crowd until we got there! The whole day, all I could think about was how long the line is, how much time it took to ride a minute long ride, and how my feet and legs were sore! Looking at the pictures now, however, all I can remember was how much fun I had, the awesome roller coaster rides, and my nephew’s beautiful smile!

Cool Blues under the Hot Heat

Reason No. 3: It’s perfect for every location. Wherever you are, there’s the endless sky! Whether you’re in the car or in your neighborhood’s park, there’s that big endless sky, that become so blue in your cross-processed film! It’s pretty easy to take fun pictures while stuck in traffic or when you decide to take a walk in the park!

A Lot of Trees and a Lot of Traffic

Reason No. 4: It goes with any color. The Valley of Fire, for example, is one of the most monotonous parks I’ve ever seen. You see brown rocks, red rocks, and really red rocks! I was quite amazed at how the blue skies and the white puffy clouds stood out using Kodak E200! It is beautiful with contrasting colors! When cross-processed, there is a slight blue color shift, but you don’t lose the other colors!!

Blue Skies and Rocks Rocks Rocks!

So whether it’s sunny outside with scattered clouds or maybe with just a puff or two, you can never go wrong with this roll bursting with BLUE!

12 Months, 12 Projects: March Of Caffenol

My list of resolutions for 2015 consists of 12 projects, one for every month. March was for caffenol. You have probably heard of the amazing fact that you can develop black and white photos with coffee, sodium, and vitamin C. I had tried this before but with less than stellar results. Somehow, there's always something going wrong. Time to devote a few rolls to caffenol to finally get the hang of it.

Lomography Redscale XR 50-200 120: Perfect for Endless Multiple Exposures!

About two years ago or so, I purchased the Lomography Redscale XR 50-200. I saved just one roll of this film and waited for the right moment to shoot with it. In April this year, I just wasn't able to take it anymore! I loaded this film into my Lubitel 166+, which I realized I hadn't used for maybe about six months. One idea came to mind: taking crazy multiple exposures!

This film has fine grain, especially when cross-processed in C41. And if you use a Lomo camera, maybe the LC-A or the LC-Wide, the results will be more interesting with strong vignettes in your pictures!

    Solar Eclipses and Beyond

The skies were busy with magic today — or maybe it was just the solar eclipse that caused all that ruckus? Decked out in space-age goggles and other various sun viewing paraphernalia, groups of people gathered as the moon moved between the sun and the earth this morning across Europe. Only a few lucky folks witnessed the total eclipse, and here at Vienna HQ, the greatest moment of the partial eclipse happened at 10:45 A.M. and lasted only a few minutes. We stopped everything we were doing to join the sky watchers crew and share in this astonishing moment. Check out these brilliant solar-inspired shots to celebrate the occasion!
