Mental note: declaring that you're giving away a thousand cameras at Photokina, the largest camera convention in the world, will surely get you mobbed! We aren't complaining though, as we got quite an eclectic mix of visitors on Day One!
Everybody loves Lomography!
Hundreds of different Lomographers were waiting eagerly to reach their spot of desire at Photokina 2010 – the Lomography booth. Men in suits were mixing it up with the most eccentric Lomographers to share their love for Lomography. Some of them even had their favorite camera tattooed on them! So much analogue love was in the air that it attracted the press who were more than happy to point their cameras at happy faces, colourful Lomographic products and the Analogue Arts Juror.
Free cameras for all
We have to admit that it all sounded like a hoax at first and people were whispering at our booth: ‘Is it really true?’ We are happy to say that, YES, we are really giving away 1000 cameras for free! The line in front of the desk of the Analogue Arts Juror got longer and longer as people were waiting to present their LomoLocation but in the end, everybody was happy with their free cameras.
More to come
Don’t worry – there’s still enough cameras left that are waiting to be swapped for your LomoLocation Shooting Proposal! So stop by at our booth tomorrow and enjoy the great vibes from our turntables or have a chat with other Lomographers about your favorite camera. See ya tomorrow!

On July 4, 1776, the redrafted version of Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence made it to Congress. Some 90 years later it was made into an official holiday. Since then, Americans have celebrated Fourth of July in full regalia. Some parade in flag-themed costumes or party in their best dresses, while others bond with friends over beer in the park.
This article is dedicated to one of the most important masters of photography, Robert Capa. Capa is well known for his photos of war, from the famous image of the Republican Spanish soldier collapsing backwards after being fatally shot to his images taken in Indochina. He was also a co-founder of the famous Magnum Photo Agency, the first cooperative agency for freelance photographers worldwide. For this article, I took advantage of a rare event held in my city, Como, some weeks ago: a military drill for civil protection purposes.
There are things that artist Valeriie Liin can't leave the house without: her earphones, two notebooks, keys to her home in Taiwan, and a little color palette for painting. It's not always that she can paint, though, so for those times she turns to her cameras.
