My adventure in Chernivtsi with the Fisheye and Holga

A recent trip to Chernivtsi in Ukraine, toke with me the Holga the Fisheye and some 120mm and 35mm film, thought there I will buy more. A recent trip to Chernivtsi in Ukraine, took with me the Holga the Fisheye and some 120mm and 35mm film, thought I will buy more there but...

At the end of 1st 120mm film , went to the lab, the lady said “long time since I saw this type of film” and I learn:

  • There´s no 120mm film (after some days and some labs behind , there´s no 120mm film in Chernivtsi )
  • There´s no 35mm slide film , goodbye x-pro

Fortunately they can develop 120 and 35mm film.

So I bought some film and with the Holga in one hand and the Fisheye on the other went throught the streets of beautifull Chernivtsi, a city that’s 602 years old.

In an era where everything is digital, I thought – “some cameras are made in this coutry, I will find some good deals” – It was a hard task, but in the last day I found a man who sells books on the stret and I bought to him a Zenith-e and a Kiev 19. A friend gave me an old lab he had at home, soon I will start to process my films.

The funny thing was when I take a pic. Everybody ask me to show the photo, I just turn the camera and you can imagine the faces.

Yes I will be back to Chernivtsi, I love this city, but I will bring more film.

Seeking the Elusive 'Decisive Moment' in Foreign Cities

Some of the photos I took during my trips to Penang and Singapore may pass as street photography, but to be honest, they were more like my feeble attempts to capture 'decisive moments' that I don't usually find at home.
