Gaio-Rosário

Gaio and Rosário are two small fisherman's villages on the side of Tagus river, very near to Lisbon. Everything here is linked to the river, either fishing or the construction of boats, the main tourist attractions or the local dishes.

Gaio and Rosário are two small fisherman’s villages on the side of Tagus river, very near to Lisbon. Everything here is linked to the river, either fishing or the construction of boats, the main tourist attractions or the local dishes. The houses are extremely colorful, everywhere we can see flowers and small gardens, and the 1532 Chapel, is worthwhile a visit. It was build in 1532 by Cosmes Bernardes de Macedo, and its patron saint is S. João Evangelista.

One of the main gardens on the sidewalk has a beautiful panoramic view over Lisbon. On Summer nights this is the place to be, the locals are extremely animated having a variety of activities all weekends. We can watch the processions, assist street performances, or, if you dare, get into a sandy arena along with a bull.
