The Medieval Journey to the Land of Santa Maria is the largest event of recreating medieval Europe. It is held annually for ten consecutive days in the historical center of Santa Maria da Feira, attracting about 50,000 daily visitors.
With unique characteristics in the country, this project distinguishes itself by historical accuracy, dimension (spatial and temporal) and involvement of the population and local associations, strengthening their identity and sense of belonging, and mobilizing a large team of over a thousand people from areas several of which 250 on a voluntary basis. Focused on rebuilding episodes and events that marked the local and national history in the Middle Ages, the Medieval Journey began by held near the castle, but quickly expanded to the entire historic center and the surrounding area.
For the first time, the Medieval Journey has available to visitors a place to stay overnight and stay in full enclosure of the event. The Field of Tendilhas will work on 28 July to 9 August, in Quinta do Castelo, near the headquarters of the Group of 640 National Scouts Corps, an organization that will manage space
