Intramuros

Formerly the infamous prison for rebels and dissidents during the old times, the walled city of Intramuros, the "city within a city", has withstood the test of time and still remains majestic as ever. Some of its splendor is lost due to urbanization not to mention the series of bombings experienced during the Second World War but it still retains its old worldly charm. Some of the moats and gates of old still stand while one of the many torture chambers has been converted to a coffee shop. How's that for ingenuity? For a tourist, a visit to Manila would be incomplete without at least a visit to the walled city. It is located near the Pasig River and most jeeps going to Quiapo will pass by there.

Fresh From the Lab: Take Off Your Socks and Shoes - It's Summertime!

Every year, just a few weeks before summer, I dedicate a series of photos to the joy of living outdoors in this good season. One of the most common pleasures is taking one's socks and shoes off to feel the first warm rays of sun on our pale feet, which were prisoners inside shoes throughout the long winter season. So, it's time to take off your socks and shoes and relax barefoot! Where? Of course, on the walls surrounding the beautiful lake! Take a look!
