Mijonju is the proprietor of the cult hit youtube channel, the Mijonju Show, that talks about all things analogue - from his camera collection to events and photowalks. We caught up with this busy shooter who is based in Tokyo, Japan and asked a few questions...
Name: Michel Jones a.k.a Mijonju
City: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo
Please tell us a bit about your self
I love Cameras like a fat boy who loves Chocolate cake.
How long have you been a Lomographer? How did you get into film cameras?
2 years ago, I got into Film Cameras because of my mothers Minolta SRT 101b.
The strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest photographic/Lomographic encounter you had.
I was pointing my Camera at a girl in the train, just when i was about to press the shutter she looked at me (into the camera), and the shot was made
it was an extremely Awkward feeling, It’s not a specially beautiful photo, but that day i was really embarrassed.
If your photos shown here could have a soundtrack of three songs, what would they be (song title & artist please)
Beatles – Penny Lane
Nujabes – Aruarian Dance
Hide – Eyes Love you (guitar solo)
The one person (living or deceased) who you would most like to photograph
Kimura Kaela, because 1 I really like her figure and her sunny smile, also that kinda innocence but naughty look on some of her expression.
Which is your all time favorite camera? and favorite Lomography Camera? I know you have plenty of cameras.
Konica C35 FD and Of course the LC-A
Tell us about the Mijonju show! Why did you start? Any interesting and new plans for future?
I plan to take the Video outside, bring people around Tokyo’s Camera Shops. I started a few months ago, because there are no Main show that talks about vintage or toy cameras, yes there are a few videos on youtube but not from 1 general show.
Your advice to future LC-A+ shooters.
Please never drop your LC-A+ into the water, I did that once and it died.
