Doubles with You, The Spring Project - disdis & paramir

4

A first collaboration between disdis and me (paramir). This is to celebrate the spring in a splash of flowers and colors! Hope you enjoy looking through this fresh gallery.

And then one morning
Another spring is there outside my door
Things are blooming
Birds are singing
And suddenly yes well I ain’t sad
Ain’t sad no more ain’t sad no more

(Another Spring, Nina Simone)

A couple of months ago disdis and myself decided to do a doubles project, a film swap. The spring was just around the corner and we decided to celebrate this fact and dedicate our project to the season of beginnings, awakening, blooming and love.
We decided to go for medium format film, and chose the Holga (disdis) and the Diana (me) to accompany us as we dive into the flowers… First layer – flower macros, second one – free spirit.

After about a month since we agreed on all the details, the first roll was developed. It was a bit dark and about half of the frames were more single then double… But the colors of the spring were already starting to show up.

The rolls I got from disdis went with me for a visit in Rennes, France, and then back to Amsterdam. When I picked them up from the lab, the spring at its full power blasted in my face… And the forth roll came not long after, loaded with intense colors, matured spring, slowly turning into summer…

This film swap was for me a great opening for the season. The next project is already on its way…

    My Lomo’Instant Quick Tips

I backed the Kickstarter project for the Lomo’Instant earlier this year and was thrilled to receive it last week. I love how the camera naturally encourages you to experiment with its different features, whether it’s through flashing your multiple exposures with different colors or trying different creative techniques after your shots has been ejected. Here are a few tips from what I’ve discovered from playing with the camera so far (and a couple of tips I want to try out in future)!
